The Church Accommodation

We are just back from a 6 week tour of new Zealand and our stay at The Church was one of the highlights of the trip. We received a really friendly reception on arrival and were furnished with lots of really useful information on the local area and great tips with regard to visits to Cathedral Cove and Hot water Beach. We stayed in The House, which although slightly oversized for just the two of us was great accommodation and enabled us to cook meals , which after a long trip and lots of trips to restaurants we were really grateful for. The kitchen was very well equipped and there is a small General Store in Hahei which was very good, although we also stopped at the big supermarket in Tairua en route. The House was extremely clean and comfortable, particularly the pillows and beds. There was a large decking with table and chairs for eating outside and a small garden which was lovely to sit in to relax after long days on the beach and walking. The location of the The Church is just at the edge of the village of Hahei and was a pleasant walk into the village, beach and the path to Cathedral Cove. It was also close to the car park where for $7 you could get a shuttle bus up the first part of the walk to Cathedral Cove saving a walk up a steep hill. Hahei has a couple of cafes and a pub serving food, but The Church bistro is on the site of the accommodation. The bistro is well recommended although we did not try. I really recommend this accommodation, if you are staying in Hahei and suggest you add an extra day just to have a rest and relax on the beautiful beach if you are travelling.

Lovely cabins with bedroom, bathroom and seating area with kitchenette. Table and chairs on a small deck outside. Set amongst lush vegetation . Very helpful staff. Maps of local area and walks, spades and beach towels can be borrowed. Etsy clean and comfortable. Easy 10 minute walk to really lovely beach.

Beautiful setting, easy parking next to accommodation. Reception staff were really friendly & helpful. Tucked away from the hustle & bustle of the village but within easy walking distance of shops & cafes. We had garden cottage no. 7 and can highly recommend.

This is a beautiful place run by very friendly people! We stayed in a lovely, spacious cottage with a veranda. There were beach towels available to take to beautiful Hahei beach and spades to take to dig pools at Hot Water Beach. We were also able to make use of the laundry which was great when you are undertaking a lengthy tour of this part of the world. The Church Restaurant is on site (though owned separately) which made having a great dinner very easy.

Great location. We had a self contained cottage located in beautiful gardens. The accommodation was very good - modern and comfortable. It was very spacious and well appointed. Short walk to the village centre. It was very easy to make the arrangements.

Really nice hotel with a beautiful garden and a very friendly owner. A breakfast is provided to your room according to your requirement for own cooking. Parking is free. Spades for the hot water beach are provided as well. There is a restaurant as well with excellent food, just the prices are slightly above average
