The Kensington

It is located in a very good spot on the sea front of Great Yarmouth. It has a very friendly staff. The breakfast is included in the price. The breakfast was very good. It is good value for money.

Third time staying here. Lovely clean hotel. Warm rooms. Great breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They were all great. Good carparking and 10 mins walk to town. The waterways are opposite and are lovely to walk round. We had a sea view room which was even better as the sun rises in full view We will be back

Took 3 payments out of my account still waiting for a refund Very hard to contact anybody and when you do it's like talking to a brick wall. One person said I should get a refund by Sunday 14 April. Still waiting. I keep on phoning try again Monday after going to my bank

Absolutely lovely stay again and we're already looking forward to our next visit. It's great to have somewhere near town with private parking, breakfast included and first rate customer service. The rooms are clean and spacious. It's close enough to town and amenities for a very enjoyable time.

Been before and had no problem but this time in room 11 it was disgusting Dust on top of wardrobe not been cleaned in ages But the worst part was the black mould We only noticed in morning as we arrived later than planned , dumped case in room and left Wife has bad allergies to this type and made her eyes swell On writing this still had no communication from hotel Staff in general very good But hotel needs a massive look at itself Won’t use agin

We had a wake here for our mums funeral, the staff were very helpful. As for the food it was lovely and plenty of it we had the hot and cold Buffett and we added the chilli as well, very nice indeed. Tea and coffee and orange juice. Bar was open if you wanted a deluxe coffee or an alcoholic beverage. I would highly recommend on the quality and quantity of food.

After staying here previously, it was only natural to book again . Disappointed is an under statement. On arrival, front of house staff were lacking in what I'd expect, personal hygiene and state of dress were appalling as well as lack of intelligence , good customer service , or a professional service. On first look our room appeared pleasant, a sea view was a nice touch . The bed linen was clean , but that was the only.thing that was . There were a previous occupants beard trimmings in the sink and bath , the mirror was smeared and dirty . The tiles at the side of the sink had tooth paste running down them . The shower curtain was mouldy . The bathroom in general was dated and dirty , with the sealant around the bath being black . The taps on the sink and bath were thick with black gunge , could easily be wiped . They were definitely ready for Halloween, with large cobwebs, festooned around the windows . All surfaces were thick with dust . Coffee stains all over the kettle and side . An inch think yellow crust greeted me inside the kettle . Wrappers from sugar from previous occupants on the floor . What was apparently clean towels on the bed , had black stains on them . I complained to the previously mentioned " front of house " staff . He took a dirty cloth and a spray bottle went into the bathroom , emerged 5 mins later . I'm not sure what he did in there but it sure wasn't cleaning . I asked to speak to the manager , was told by a young girl that he would be 5 minutes so I waited , to turn be told he'd " gone out " . Staff in general are rude , do the bare minimum, are unaccomadating , bar closes early when guests are still relaxing in the lounge . Staff are uninformed, don't know what beer they serve , or what comes with the meals . In general an awful stay , budget or not no excuse for it not to be clean or for staff to be rude .

On a positive side some of the staff are very nice while others rude or miserable.but the food is very nice. We watched one of the younger staff members hoover the carpets downstairs,the hoover smells awful and the hoover doesn't pick up properly probably due to needing to be emptied and as this hotel allows dogs this is not good. The room we stayed in was small but the bed was quite comfortable it had had some refreshing done which was ok but attention to detail is needed, the radiators don't work properly and come on in the mornings when your already up and dressed and are not on properly at night and you can't alter them on the temperature gauge on radiator. Our room was cleaned ok but cupboards need to be moved and hoovered around properly and the ceiling had loads of cobwebs. Service at breakfast and evening can be slow with some of the staff and they should know more about food they are serving and what drinks are at the bar. We have stayed here before and had no issues then but what I have written hopefully will help to get things sorted out because with some feedback this hotel could be nice again

My partner and I stayed at The Kensington for my birthday weekend and not only was the room comforting and up to date with a view of the waterways and the ocean but the food was delicious and the staff were extremely accommodating. Located right on the sea front it is close to all amenities and attractions although when we stayed not a lot was open due to the time of year but that didn't stop us from having a wicked time. We had drinks in the on site bar on Saturday night and ended up making friends with multiple other guests staying in the hotel. The staff have a high level of customer service and you don't feel like your staying in a hotel with how friendly and down to earth they all are, its made to feel like a home away from home which is personally what we like when staying away. The food is reasonably priced considering how high the quality of food is. I had the hunters chicken with a sticky toffee pudding for dessert and my partner had the cottage pie with a chocolate brownie sundae and both were incredible. Sunday we had the topside beef roast dinner and I've got to say this is the first time I have had a roast dinner which my partner or I have cooked that was spot on! The beef was seasoned beautifully and there was more then enough. We will definitely look forward to staying here again! Thanks to all the staff at The Kensington for an amazing birthday weekend x
