The Lion Hotel

Having read other reviews, I was prepared for the dangerous staircase & used the hand rail. (Don't try to carry a bag in each hand while using these stairs.) But when the lad on duty opened the door to my room, he chatted to me as I entered, distracting me from the two steps down immediately inside the bedroom door (with no warning sign). As I fell sideways down the stairs, he smirked. I could have been seriously injured, but he found the event amusing. In addition, the bathroom sink took four minutes to drain, so it was impossible to rinse it after cleaning my teeth. Efforts to rinse it just left the mess sitting in the sink. Apart from that, at least the towels and bedding were clean. The cooked breakfast will suit those who rate quantity over quality. The scrambled egg was of powerball consistency- hard and rubbery, while the veggie sausages were swimming in grease. But there's a handy little Co-op around the corner, so you can always buy a sandwich instead. The best thing about the Lion is its location - close to where I needed to be the next morning, & just across the road from the excellent "Swan", a friendly pub but which sadly doesn't do accommodation.

Lovely little place, with a lovely busy bar & restaurant attached. Rooms are on small side, but adequate enough, quiet and comfortable and nice touches. Duty manager (Rich?) was very pleasant and really helpful (Even kindly got me a coffee the next morning when I'd missed breakfast) Definitely recommend for a short stay.

We received a very warm welcome at this charming hotel. The staff were very kind and friendly. Our rooms were spotless, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. An excellent shower and nice complimentary toiletries. The food was excellent - a nice range of options for dinner and a delicious full Staffordshire breakfast. There's also an excellent gin menu! We'd definitely recommend it.

Lovely overnight stay. We booked a meal in the restaurant for hubby's birthday, & finished it off with cocktails, before retiring to our room The staff were friendly, the room was pleasant & overlooked the village centre. Nice, pleasant relaxed evening. We enjoyed our breakfast the next morning too.

The Staff was excellent and very attentive! Rich the manager, Allison (with our morning cafe Americano at the ready) Billy the bartender (Wonderful Black Russian) Oscar (aka Oliver) and the hardest working women in Brewood Georgia made our stay amazing! Highly recommend staying at the lion. The food at the Staffordshire Grille was among the best we had in the area. Thank you all for making my wife and I feel like family!

Stayed here for a wedding at Prendall Hall. Brew pod is a small village which had nice Christmas lights and atmosphere. Rooms were of a good size and clean Staff were polite and courteous.

Stop here for the night on our way to the Lake District, what a lovely stay. All the staff were fantastic, welcoming, friendly and attentive. The rooms are comfortable, clean, modern with a country feel, love it. Dinner at the restaurant was beautiful and we will definitely be going back.

Great hotel and fantastic location in a pretty village. The room was a little small and no hangers in the wardrobe but we had some so didn’t matter. As we were staying the week got a free bottle of wine during our stay and a complimentary coffee which was lovely. The breakfast was great and the staff very attentive especially Alison and Richard

Excellent food and welcoming staff, who were all very helpful. The facilities were excellent with a very pretty courtyard garden. It was a pleasure to stay there and would highly recommend it.
