We turned up today, having booked a table and paid a deposit a few weeks ago, to find that the pub was closed. So less of a review and more of a warning. I see that TA now has added a note to say that it’s closed until further notice. However, it’s possible that booking sites are still taking bookings so beware. This used to be a lovely place. I hope they get it up and running again - such a shame

The bay changed hands in October 24, prior to that we had been visiting for lunches as a couple, family for over a year. Excellent service, friendly, knowledgeable, staff, fantastic food a really good experience hence recommending the place to all n sundry, new management took over, good staff gone & so was the quality of the food, no disrespect to the chain food restaurants but if I wanted frozen chips I would have gone to one, shame as this was the perfect place for us, but we found another establishment with the ambience & food quality of the bay

Best to ring and check its open before you go to avoid disappointment. Regularly changing staff means no real consistency for last two months. When we went the fire was off and we sat with coats on, but we went in again and “jez” was on duty and he makes sure the fire is on which is so much nicer. There have been limited drinks available lately and the beer was poor (tried two). When we asked for crisps we were told sadly not as they had only received boxes of out of date ones, There has been a change in ownership. Haven’t eaten there so can’t comment on food.

We stayed one night (as we have done several times previously) on our way to Leeds Bradford Airport. This time there was no warm welcome and the place seemed a bit dead. It has since changed hands/tenants so this may have been the reason. The rooms are comfortable, well appointed and reasonably priced. Hard to get the temperature right though and desperately need an automatic sensor light near entry door for early dark departures as can't see the step etc very well. Hoping the new tenants change the menu/pricing a bit though as we felt it was overpriced and disappointing in it's delivery. We will quite possibly return again but may not be rushing back.

It is a few months since we had been to the Bay Horse and decided to go for lunch. The food is as good as always but the pub lacked something I did ask if the manager Marius was away, the member of staff said she was the manager as Marius had left. The friendly warm atmosphere in the restaurant was missing along with the wonderful greeting when you arrived and the excellent service was no longer. Not sure we will rush back.

The food is excellent, but the accommodation is not. On arrival the room was extremely cold. Luckily it had warmed up by bedtime. The pillows were the lumpiest I have ever slept on and the mattress needed replacing. The breakfast, a short walk away, was outstandingly good.

My wife and I ate here on three consecutive evenings in Sept 23 whilst staying in Goldsborough Hall (just a few minutes walk away) . We both thought the food was very good as was the service and would definitely eat there again if in the area. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

Brilliant. We stay here quite regularly. Beautiful gardens lovely food and service. Marcus and the staff are lovely. I was sad to see complaints about the Bar Manager who was on holiday. He is indeed a character and can appear brusque. Those who go regularly love how he is and how he speaks to people. The man is hilarious if you have a sense of humour. He is typical Yorkshire Folk!

What a fantastic service we came here for Sunday lunch amazing food,amazing they went over my expectations food was fresh,table service was great,staff very pleasant Very nice welcoming place and relaxing I will be definitely returning Thank you for a fantastic service
