Beautiful setting in gardens high above Funchal. Spacious spotless double room, excellent maintenance by chambermaids . Bed comfortable although very high for my 5’ tall travelling companion. Great choice at breakfast. All evening meal options disappointed: a la carte fairly expensive, unchanging menu, and dishes not very tasty. Table d’hote included flavourless marrow and chewy fish. Waiting staff all very pleasant. Stay here for old fashioned service and ambiance but eat out. Note to any guests with mobility issues: steps into main building and between lobby and dining room have no handrail, and paths around the garden are composed of crazy paving so not completely smooth. Won’t be issues for most able bodied individuals.

Siamo stati una settimana in questa struttura e ci siamo trovati benissimo! La struttura è molto bella, in un’ottima posizione sull’oceano e con tanti servizi di ottima qualità. Le camere sono spaziose e pulite, lo staff è cortese e disponibile. Ottimo il buffet, sempre vario e ben rifornito. Quando non siamo riusciti a prenotare in uno dei ristoranti tematici, la direzione si è presa carico del problema e ha trovato posto anche per noi, permettendoci di provare anche l’ottimo ristorante Botanic che offre piatti della cucina di Madeira. L’animazione divertente, per i giovani come nostro figlio, senza essere invasiva. Consigliatissimo a tutti, coppie e famiglie, per un soggiorno senza pensieri a Madeira. We stayed a week in this resort and we had a great time! The property is very beautiful, in an excellent location on the ocean and with many excellent quality services. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are kind and helpful. The buffet is excellent, always varied and well stocked. When we were unable to book in one of the thematic restaurants, the management solved the problem and found a place for us too, allowing us to also try the excellent Botanic restaurant which offers Madeiran cuisine. The entertainment team was fun, especially for young people, without being invasive. Highly recommended to everyone, couples and families, for a wonderful stay in Madeira.

Siamo stati in questo hotel dal 22 al 27 aprile 2023 ed è stata una piacevole esperienza. Ci hanno dato una stanza molto ampia e pulita con terrazza e vista piscina e oceano. Hotel molto pulito e silenzioso. I letti sono comodissimi e ci hanno fatto trovato in camera le bottiglie da riempire di acqua nella hall. È un albergo all inclusive con tre ristoranti. Vi consiglio di mangiare solo all’Atlantico perché è veramente il migliore. Pesce tutti i giorni, frutta tropicale e varie insalate. Colazione varia e buona e rimpiazzano spesso i vassoi fino all’orario di chiusura. Al piano della piscina è presente il ristorante italiano dove da mezzanotte alle 7 del mattino è sempre a disposizione qualcosa da mangiare. Questo permette a chi ha il volo molto presto di mangiare comunque qualcosa. La zona piscina è pulitissima, l’acqua un po’ freddina per i miei gusti. Lettini e ombrelloni sempre disponibili. Personale molto disponibile: abbiamo avuto un problema col doccino della doccia e ce l’hanno sostituito in giornata. Il garage è molto comodo visto che l’auto per girare l’isola è certamente necessaria. L’unico appunto che posso fare è che la mattina presto la zona del ristorante italiano andrebbe almeno presidiata dal personale, giusto per avere l’impressione di essere più al sicuro. Diciamo che se fossi stata sola, non sarei rimasta a fare colazione lì alle 6 del mattino. Si tenga presente anche che non si tratta di un boutique hotel: gli spazi sono enormi e gli ospiti tantissimi. Quando siamo andati noi, per lo più anziani inglesi. Prenoterei nuovamente qui, nonostante la lontananza dal centro di Funchal, perché è veramente comodo per le escursioni.

L'hotel è convenientemente situato vicino alla zona Lido; grandi ristoranti intorno all'hotel e l'autobus dell'aeroporto si fermano proprio fuori dall'hotel (costo di ritorno 8 euro)! Anche il personale è stato molto amichevole e la squadra ha organizzato una piccola sorpresa per il compleanno del mio partner. Nessun problema era troppo. Il buffet di colazione era davvero buono con molte scelte. Le strutture dell'hotel erano buone anche. Tutto in un grande hotel. Abbiamo anche goduto di camminare 30 minuti dalla città antica, ma apprezziamo che questo non sia per tutti... benché molti taxi e la rotta locale di autobus siano un salto e un salto lontano.

We visited the hotel as part of a package holiday as we wanted a relaxing break, so thought we’d try all-inclusive for a change. We had a great stay! The staff were all welcoming and friendly, our room was clean and serviced every day, the location right by the ocean is amazing and there’s a free shuttle bus to Funchal twice a day - what’s not to like! It was lovely to sit on the balcony watching the ocean, and on our good weather days we left the balcony door open for some air but also to fall asleep to the sound of the sea. Unfortunately, we also had some very windy days, so the door remained shut! We enjoyed the food, the breakfast especially had a good selection. Each evening there was a themed dinner, always with a range of salads and deserts too. And there was entertainment every evening. Whilst some of the alcoholic drinks aren’t included on the basic package, there’s plenty of choice, including local drinks and house wines. If you’re not going to be in the hotel at lunchtime, you can ask for a picnic lunch. Walks along the promenade in both directions from the hotel are great - do take the tunnel to the local lido. The beach is pebbles just in front of the hotel, but further up is soft, black sand. If you want to be in the midst of Funchal, this isn’t the hotel for you, but if you want a relaxing holiday with free transport to the city when you want it, I’d recommend the Pestana Ocean Bay. Some reviews say it’s dated, and it’s not a thoroughly modern hotel, but it’s clean and friendly so perfect for us. For the price we paid we were really pleased and would happily stay again. We were surprised to find the room had a small kitchenette with useful fridge (we didn’t use the hob).

L'albergo è bello e moderno. Ci sono però alcuni aspetti che mi hanno lasciato perplesso ed altri che non mi sono piaciuti. Partiamo dagli ascensori che sono piccoli e assolutamente insufficienti per gestire 15 piani. La capienza limitata di 4 persone costringe a delle attese interminabili e soffocanti. Se avete problemi di claustrofobia sono guai. In più circostanze mi sono trovato a fare fermate ad ogni piano con l'ascensore già pieno e mi sono sentito male, per il caldo, gli odori e la mancanza di spazio. La colazione è ricchissima e abbondante ed è un vero punto di forza. Per chi ama la colazione continentale c'è un'infinità di scelta, con preparazioni fatte al momento. Ho letto una recensione che lamentava la mancanza dell'angolo per i toast. Non è vero. L'area c'è ed è davvero ricca. Attenzione agli orari, se arrivate quando arrivano i gruppi organizzati c'è il caos. Per chi ama la colazione dolce tipo italiana, l'offerta è un po' limitata, ma nel complesso non ci si può assolutamente lamentare. Non si capisce come mai non mettono a disposizione le tazzine piccole per l'espresso e le si devono richiedere al personale di sala che ve le porta come qualcosa di speciale. La piscina sembra quella condominiale, incastonata tra i fabbricati e con le piastrelle nere (non molto invitante a dire il vero) i lettini tutti rivolti verso l'oceano (che non si vede se non a distanza) danno le spalle alla piscina stessa. L'ultima fila (che poi sarebbe la prima se rivolti all'oceano) è praticamente sulla strada sottostante (siamo al terzo piano). Un'ultima segnalazione sgradevole, seduto sulla poltrona davanti al bar della Hall, sono stato punto da insetti che potrebbero essere delle pulci o acari di qualche tipo. Forse sarebbe bene fare una disinfestazione o sostituire il tessuto delle poltroncine. Il minibar è vuoto. Non offre nulla.
