Havener's

I arrived on the passenger ferry from Polruan and was so happy that the Haveners was literally right next to the ferry stop; having just walked 12 steep miles along the coast path and not having to walk any further that was the first delightful treat! From then on it felt like home. Lovely welcoming staff, a beautiful room with a gorgeous view and a really nice bathroom. I appreciated the tea and biscuits and enjoyed the comfort of the room before going down to a delicious dinner of fresh crab. Bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was everything a breakfast can be and an excellent start to my second day of hiking. As a solo visitor I especially appreciated the friendliness of all the staff.

We were really looking forward to our stay at Havener's, having eaten there many times. The food is always excellent and the staff are helpful and cheery. Unfortunately our stay was not what we expected in room 3. There were the usual little niggles, as there is with any hotel, nowhere is perfect. But then things went downhill from there. The room was described as, "Rooms overlook the quay and estuary beyond", therefore we were expecting a view looking towards the coast and sea beyond. However ours was facing inland, looking up river. There was no body wash/soap in the shower, only shampoo & conditioner. We also heard this mentioned by other guests. The shower door was hanging on the runners by one wheel, instead of the supplied four. The toilet seat was loose and the toilet was very close to the wash basin to make it uncomfortable. The towels were laid out on shelves ready for us, but when removed, the shelves were still dusty. The central light fitting was unsafe, the outer sheath exposing the wires inside and not properly fixed to the ceiling rose or the light fitting. The room was not once vacuumed during our 3 night stay, and the final day, our room was not serviced at all! We returned to full waste bins, unwashed cutlery & crockery and unmade bed. For a 3 night stay, that was advertised at nearly £190 per night, this was totally unacceptable. I don't think we'd stay here again, but we would definitely eat here again. All grievances were brought to the attention of the General Manager.

We loved our stay at Haveners. A brilliant location with great views of the estuary. We were lucky to have good weather so it was very picturesque. The staff were lovely, very friendly and couldn’t do more for you to ensure you had an enjoyable stay. We ate in the restaurant two nights and the food was really nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good too generous portions and we were well looked after by the lovely JLo. We had room 4 which was a little snug but spotless and nicely decorated with a modern bathroom. Only fault was the lack of a hairdryer which we did manage without. Nice toiletries and everything else you needed was provided. Our first visit to Fowey which we loved. We hope to stay at Haveners again on our next visit.

Once again another spectacular stay at Havener's. Comfortable rooms, fabulous location, stunning food and excellent service! Exceptional team and brilliant all round! Thank you for looking after us again Team Havener's and can't wait to be back! Mel 😁

Great setting, lovely room (especially the bedding) & excellent staff. Dinner was good value & the breakfasts are great. Plus St Austell Brewey are doing a BOGOF. The terrible traffic in Fowey is not a problem in December & the shops are filled with a much higher class of 'tourist tat'!

Excellent food and room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location I would recommend a river view next time as the estuary is right out side. Nice pint of beer too. The restaurant was nicely full when I visited on a dark Monday evening in November
