This is the seconds time I have been disappointed with a hotel in Eastbourne. It was probab ly the worst hotel I have stayed in for a long time. I was told there were 5 steps but this turned out tobe 8. Hoever, there WAS a ramp which Maria had not told me on the phone. SHe said the room was on the first floor but there was a lift. Whe I confirmed, she said there was no BREAKFAST. i TIRED ti change the booking via Red Letter Days buit they were MOST unhelpful, saying the in fo was on the website. Howevfger, that only said Room only, like many hotyels. It did NOT say NO food was available as it did for another OYO hotel, the Oban. WHen we did eventually get into the hotel,I folund the lift was out of order and had been since well before I booked! IF,as the hotel website says(why two names and 2 websites?-sounds very suspcious to me")the hotel is"disabled friendly"surely the lift should have been repaired as a matter of urgency. The room door was quite narrow as was the bathropom door. I had been promised a "walk-in"shower but there was a 6 inch step, not disabled friendly! Also, the razor socket over the sink was just withing my reacxh as was the light cord. My disabled friend could not reach so a wheelchair definitely could not! I told the receptionist, who was very appologetic and offered to give us a room on the second fllor which would entailed another 20 steps,so I refused! The sink was quite small so the kettle woulod not fit under the tap to fill it. The only way was to use a mug,a difficult task for a disabled person! There were two nice beds BUT only one chair and only a bath towel each,no hand towels. The chair was wobbly wioth a loose back which is a Health and Safety hazard. One good point is that we got in before 3 p.m!There was a lavatory next to the lounge BUT it was in a disgusting condition, with faeces around the bowl and NO water in the cistern, the lid was off so I could not even flilsh it! I told the receptionist who then took down a "Staff Only"sign from another lavatory which was very clean. At 1.30 p.m.,the next day,the room had not been servciced,so I spoke to the receptionist whoc called a chamberman, who did not seem to know what to do! I asked for morte coffe, tea and milk whjich he gave me. I then had to ask for clean towels and toiletries, and the beds to be made. I went out and my friend was downstairs having struggled down to make way for the sewrvicing. At 4.3p p.m.the room had STILL not been serviced,so I asked for the man again. I told him and he brought more toiletries BUT still did NOT make the beds. When I asked again,he brought clean bedlinen and changed it which I had NOT asked for but was a bonus. The lounge had comfortable chair and tables. I looked at the outisde of one door and it said"Restaurant"fo food had once been supplied. The website shows tables with white lilned tablecloths and napkins,so false advertising there! The website also said each room had a hairdryer but we could not find it on Sunday a.m.after I wash
