Travelodge Dundee Strathmore Avenue

Well, looked after, we just needed a break from home and this was just right. A lot to see in Dundee the V&A is well worth a look and is free.

I had to send back my food twice, the waitress agreed that she wouldn’t eat it. She was lovely, and said lots of people complained about the food. The room was small, but adequate. Decent bed. Definitely not worth £72 per night, when there are other options nearby at a similar rate.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was tired, as was all of the hotel. The bed was really hard and had no give at all, I woke Up with back and shoulder pain. Breakfast was good, but very little choice of continental items, and I think £10 for cereal and a croissant is excessive, better options should be available. I found some of the corridors a little claustrophobic, though my partner was ok. Rather noisy room on main road and you could hear the lift going up and down.

Warm welcome and very pleasant cheerful staff. Lisa was particularly kind and helpful. I’ve stayed here many times. Would award 6 stars for staff. Comfortable stay every time. A quiet hotel about a mile out of city centre and up a hill but a much quieter stay than in city centre. Nothing fancy but a nice small bar. Decent food. Typically comfortable and fairly large room in travelodge fashion can recommend.

Fairly untypical of Travelodge - this was more like a hostel No hot water Tired decor and poor facilities

i Havent stayed in a travelodge before but becuase it was near to where we was attending a family funeral and it was booked at last minute, I thought I would give them a try. We had a 10 hour drive so arriving at reception, we checked in quickly, reception staff were really nice. ROOMS - Very Basic - We had a family room which is for 4 adults. so we had a double bed and it was sectioned off, and the other room had a proper single bed with a proper single put uou up bed. Overall bed comfort was a 3/10. No hair dryers either in rooms, but you can get one from reception. There isnt any draws in the room, a very small hanging space. BUT worse of ll there was only 2 plug sockets in the room. So if you book this hotel Take an EXTENSION LEAD. BATHROOM - This was ok, has a bath with shower over head BUT massive issue with the water. NO hot water. It was luke warm to cold. I did report this to reception and was told it was because of the amount of people in the hotel. He did reset the boiler and did offer another room, but said he couldnt gaurantee it would be any different ( so didnt really see the point in moving) RESTAURANT - This was ok, we had a spot of dinner here and also had breakfast. The breakfast is all prebook. including the pancakes (you can ask them to warm them up for you (very strange) but I would give that a 8/10. STAFF - definately make this hotel. All are pleasant and happy to be working here. They really cannot do enough for you to make your stay a happy one. Would I go back probably not as i am disabled and the hot water is an issue for me along with the beds. The location of this hotel is really good as well.
