We decided to stop here for a night before going to the Fringe as it was cheaper and we could get to Edinburgh meaning we could have a full day there. But I wish we'd had even more time to spend here! I wasn't sure what to expect as the reviews were a bit mixed but I absolutely loved it here. We booked a sea view room- good decision! The room I think had been recently refurbished, well certainly the bathroom had. I loved the style- looked great and the view was 10/10. The staff were so friendly and it had a lovely homely feel. Definitely recommend dinner there- the dining room is spectacular, but if not you'll have breakfast in there anyway! The food was a little pricey but worth it. Breakfast was lovely. Can fully recommend this place. Some friendly constructive notes! I fully understand the line about check in being 3pm but so many hotels now are a bit more accommodating, we arrived at 2.20 so surely the room was ready, it gives a lot of good will if you allow guests to check in then but we were told to come back at 3- no matter we could leave our bags and take a lovely walk but perhaps consider a little wiggle room. Also on check in it would be good to get a quick run down of info about the place- we found the bar ourselves but hadn't realised til too late that there was a lovely lounge area with view. Would have like some yoghurt at breakfast to go with my granola. Other than that you smashed it!

Despite only living 15 minutes from this pub we've never been in before. We decided to try a steak midweek. What a lovely place. It has a great snug bar as you walk in, with a nice clean restaurant area round the back. Our steaks was cooked to perfection, really soft, a bit more peppercorn sauce would of been nice. The steak pie was also really good. The staff was all super friendly and kept checking we was happy with our food. We will definitely return. We highly recommend you give it a try.
