Pros
- beautiful old building and nicely maintained swimming pool. The whole place has a wonderful authentic colonial feel about it.
- There are some decent guests around. No sex workers or creepy ‘sexpats’
- solid internet. No problems at all
Cons
- When you arrive no one greets you to help you with your cases into the hotel.
- when we checked in they gave us a downgrade without saying anything and when i raised the question about being put in a different room to the one we paid for they said nothing and put us in the room we paid for… Within an hour the air con malfunctioned as did the shower as the wiring is connected.… There are no remotes for air con or phones in the rooms. My guess is that is is largely due to it being such an old building with dated technology well in need of an overhaul.
- had to sign a disclaimer to accept a whole bunch of rules i didn’t agree to before paying on the app and arriving.
- no gym.. Despite one being advertised it’s “closed for maintenance”… considering how slowly things get done in the Philippines, that could be you years.
- The restaurant serves a shoddy breakfast and no other food for the rest of the day. The breakfast menu is all you get all day regardless of time.
- smoking area is basically the car park with no cover in case of rain.
- There’s nowhere comfortable to sit in the place. Even the sofas in the restaurant are awful.
This place could be so so much nicer with not too much effort or expense… for example, if the ladies working in here didn’t have such an attitude problem to be quite honest. I’m sure there’s a good reason, like the hotel not paying the staff a good wage or some other valid reason. But whatever it is, it’s noticeably offloaded onto the guest experience here.
