The hotel is typical congres Centre. The rooms are not isolated and there is a lot of noise out and in the building.

Great location, excellent service, close to everything, highly recommended.
Title: Shocking Experience at a So-Called 5-Star Hotel – Avoid if You’re Indian or Traveling with Kids
We stayed at Shangri-La Chiang Mai from 13–15 July 2025 in Room 722 with our 1-year-old baby. We were here to celebrate her birthday and had clearly informed the hotel in advance about a small celebration and decor. Despite a midnight reminder the night before, they said they would only arrange it “by 12 noon,” even after we told them we were checking out by then.
At 11:30 AM, they delivered a cake that looked and tasted horrible – completely disrespectful for a birthday moment.
The rooms are outdated and not well-maintained. The front office staff was cold, unhelpful, and unprofessional.
Breakfast was another letdown — Indian options were terrible: the upma was dry, dosa was cold and bad, tea was awful. The hotel clearly cannot cater to Indian guests.
Overall, this is NOT a 5-star experience. It’s not suitable for Indian families, and we left with disappointment and regret.

Hotel: Wonderful with an excellent overall experience.
• Service: Outstanding services and very friendly, professional staff — they truly deserve appreciation.
• Breakfast: The breakfast buffet is excellent and offers great variety.
• Free Amenities:
• Free water available all day.
• Free evening snack buffet.
• Facilities: The swimming pool is great and enjoyable.
• What’s Missing: It lacks some recreational games such as table football, ping pong, and billiards

Hotel was ok! Room is really big and spacious, loved the space in the toilet as well. However, the bathtub was dusty and water leaks out of the shower area while I was showering. There were some stains on the grout as well. While these are small details, it does make it seem like a less than luxurious hotel. If it were a 4-star hotel, these would have been negligible details

Good hotel with friendly staff.
However, the buffet was subpar; both the Horizon Club and breakfast buffets were average. It took a long time to replenish the food items. I expected better service from Shangri-La.

We stayed at president suite. They provided a complimentary extra bed for the kids, sent us fruit basket and a giant bear soft toy on the bed to surprise the kids.
Location
Situated on Chang Klan Road, the hotel provides easy access to Chiang Mai’s attractions, including the Night Bazaar. While it’s slightly removed from the old city, guests appreciate its central yet tranquil setting. 
Cleanliness
The hotel maintains high standards of cleanliness, with guests frequently praising the immaculate rooms and public areas. 
Service
Service is attentive and professional, reflecting Shangri-La’s commitment to hospitality. Staff are known for their friendliness and efficiency, enhancing the overall guest experience. 
Facilities
The hotel boasts extensive facilities, including Chiang Mai’s largest free-form swimming pool, a well-equipped fitness center, and the renowned CHI Spa. Guests can also enjoy amenities like a tennis court, steam rooms, and a variety of dining options. 
Overall, Shangri-La Chiang Mai combines comfort, convenience, and top-tier amenities, making it a standout choice for travelers seeking a refined stay in the city.
We stayed in premier king room for 2 nights and it was amazing. With kids club and waterpark inside the resort, for sure both adults and kid will have something to do and enjoy their own ‘me time’ to relax. Hotel lobby is huge and heaps of cultural decors for Photo shots, room is very well maintained and very comfortable, a king bed and small single bed with cartoon characters quilt/bed cover for kid. My daughter surprised by Huge teddy bear once we entered the room. Breakfast and coffee was the best one we had in Chiang Mai so far, definitely deserved 6 stars for it. One downside is the water temperature in the pool and spa, pool was too cold even at the noon 12-1pm on sunny day and spa was too hot, staff claimed to be 41 degree, but I can feel it’s even hotter than nature hot spring in Japan that can boil eggs. Apart from the resort, location was very good too, there are a few nice restaurants and a small mall with BigC supermarket within 600m walking distance, love it. Will 200% come back again next time.
The location of the hotel is right in the center of Chiang Mai, which is very convenient. I was upgraded to a Horizon Club room, giving us access to the Horizon Club on the 11th floor for drinks, breakfast, and supper before dinner. The service overall was great, but there were some issues.
We were placed in a conjoined room, and on our last night, we were woken up by noisy guests who checked in late next door. I called the front desk to request that they move the guest to another room, but the staff member seemed unable to provide a solution. I had to take NyQuil to get back to sleep, only to be woken up again at 6 a.m. when the same guest slammed their door loudly.
Additionally, we encountered another issue when a staff member entered the elevator with us, pressed the button to the basement, and laughed, forcing us to ride down unnecessarily.
These incidents are unacceptable for a high-end hotel and significantly detracted from an otherwise good experience.
