Auberge du Bois Prin

The restaurant was incredibly fantastic. The chef Quentin welcomed me with outstanding food. That being said, I was traveling alone and was the only person in the hotel at night. The coffee machine ran out of beans. The staff was supposed to arrive at 7 am and no one is here to help. While the concierge were friendly they were not helpful to me to help plan things in the area. I asked for a few things and they said they didn’t know. Not great customer service. I unfortunately picked the end of the season and many things are closed. They should have informed me that I was the only guest as the hotel is not in town but a steep walk up the hill from town. If you’re staying here, I recommend a car. Also the internet did not work with my apple products and I was not able to send or receive emails while on the property. Plus the batteries in the phone in the room died even though it was plugged in.

First the good. The restaurant was amazing. We had the 5 course meal and were treated like royalty. Fantastic, complex, delicious meal Now the problem: Each time we returned to our room, which means all the doors/windows were closed, it was super stuffy and smelled horrible. Sometimes like mold/mildew. But the worst was sometimes it smelled like sewage. The hotel knew there was a problem because when I reported the sewage smell they said “ yes, someone is coming to fix tomorrow “. Clearly they knew full well that they were giving us a room with a huge problem. And their only response? “Sorry” Disgusting and beyond unacceptable

This is a GEM and so is Chamonix!!! Chamonix is in a narrow glacial valley directly below Mont Blanc (and you can easily see Mont Blanc and many of the alpine peaks easily and completely visible from the town). On the mountainside opposite Mont Blanc is the Auberge. Originally, we wanted to stay in town near the lift to Aiguille du Midi. Glad we did not. Chamonix is a busy tourist town, and the lift is also busy. Auberge du Bois Prin likely has the BEST VIEW in all of Chamonix of the Mont Blanc Range and peak. All its rooms face the mountain peaks. It has a dozen rooms. It looks like an alpine chalet, flower boxes and all – beautiful. Inside is clean, modern and mountain rustic. The room was very, very spacious as was the bathroom. Rustic, expensive looking. Beds are very comfortable. Windows looked out to the alps. From my bed I would go to sleep looking directly at Mont Blanc. We also had a balcony looking toward the alps. What more could you want!!! There was one problem, however, there is no air conditioning. Because the windows do not have screens, we had a choice between mosquitoes (yes, there are alpine mosquitoes) or overheating. The hotel was quick to provide a fan which helped greatly. Was surprised that in the morning when I stepped onto the balcony it was cold despite the overheated room. There is an elevator in the hotel to assist with luggage. Breakfast was served on an outdoor deck and in a nice indoor space. Everything was fresh and great but how can you go wrong with continuing a view of the alps and Mont Blanc. The hotel staff and serving staff in the restaurant were more than outstanding. The restaurant is a Michelin star rated restaurant for dinner. The town buzzes with tourists, a variety of restaurants, bakeries and ice cream stands and so much more. Parking is just enough for those staying at the hotel (and it is free). One can walk into town by way of steep streets. A mile or less. One more thing; the photos of the hotel placed by management DO LOOK EXACTLY LIKE what you get - unreal beautiful!

We stayed a few days here in August and worthwhile taking the garden suite with breathtaking views of snow capped mountains. The room amenities were perfect with a jaccuzi bath tub. The staff were wonderful and helpful. Very quiet away from the town and a car is essential as the place is high on a hill. Most certainly recommended

Sur les hauteurs de Chamonix, des chambres au calme, bien isolées et refaites à neuf. Salle de bains compléte ( douche et baignoire). Jardin ou balcon face au Mont Blanc. Bon petit déjeuner continental servi à table. Dommage bain nordique non accessible à cause d'abeilles trop nombreuses. Personel professionnel et sympathique. Bien entendu, vous dinerez d'un repas d'un bon rapport qualité prix et généreux qui mérite ses appréciations des guides.

Clients fidèles des Flocons de Sels à Megève depuis plusieurs années ,c’est à la suite d’une réservation tardive et d’un hôtel complet que nous avons été à l’auberge du Bois Prin à Chamonix. L’établissement est magnifique et la situation exceptionnelle. Toutes les chambres et la salle de restaurant donnent sur le Mont Blanc et l’aiguille du midi. Difficile donc de rivaliser avec une telle vue. Les chambres sont spacieuses et décorées avec goût et on sent partout la touche de Mme Renaut. Le restaurant est très bon et on y retrouve la patte du chef. Une mention particulière pour Baptiste et Guillaume , qui savent faire du repas un moment particulier. Un petit bémol tout de même … Habituée au côté chaleureux des flocons , je dois avouer que Bois Prin est un petit peu plus impersonnel. La réception n’est pas très physionomiste , et je dois avouer que nous avons mangé plusieurs soirs les mêmes plats, ce qui n’arrive jamais aux flocons. Mais n’est pas Emmanuel Renaut qui veut et il faut bien qu’il y ait une différence quand on est chef étoilé. En résumé , c’est un hôtel magnifique avec des chambres très jolies ,un personnel sympathique et surtout une situation géographique qui écrase toute concurrence. Malgré tout , cela reste un peu en dessous des flocons mais qui peut surpasser les flocons de sels ….
