Chamonix-Mont-Blanc: i migliori hotel con palestra

Eravamo già stati qui un paio di volte nel 2012, entrando in Francia per andare verso nord e lo stesso al ritorno. Ci era piaciuto moltissimo, sia per la posizione che per i servizi, ristorante compreso. Quest'anno abbiamo fatto sosta con la stessa intenzione. Ma che cambiamento! Il Covid ha certamente lasciato un segno, negativo. Questo Hotel ha sempre una logistica stupenda perchè ci si arriva facilmente uscendo dall'autostrada, ha un parcheggio vasto ed una bella vista del ghiacciaio del monte bianco. Però, appena entrati l'impressione è stata di un generale abbandono. Abbiamo subito scoperto che il ristorante era chiuso per mancanza di personale, un problema questo perchè non ci sono alternative nei dintorni. Ci hanno suggerito farci portare da qualche ”take away” ordinando per telefono. Comunque la stanza era pulita, il letto comodo e grande, silenzioso l'ambiente in generale. Il bagno aveva tutto l'essenziale. La colazione al mattino era anch'essa essenziale e ci è stata sufficiente. Per la cena abbiamo preso l'auto e siamo andati a Chamonix, in mezzo ad una notevole confusione per la folla, ed abbiamo cenato nel Mercure Centre. L'impressione quindi è stata, almeno quando siamo andati noi, più di un Motel alla americana. Ci si arriva, si dorme e si riparte. L'essenziale.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our break in Chamonix. Upon arrival the staff were not overly welcoming which was a shame as we had just driven 12 hours to get there. Our room was so tiny & so dark but the view was nice looking over the mountains and the bed was very comfy. There was no main light in the room, only little lamps dotted around making it feel even smaller. The cleaning service was not great as they left dirty glasses, didn’t top up our tea/coffee/water and just threw my pjs on the floor when making the bed. I spoke to reception about this and this was half-sorted that day. The room also came with no vanity pack (not even a shower cap) and no flannels! The spa was very nice & was welcomed after our hikes (the main reason we chose this hotel). We chose not to have breakfast at the hotel as it was so expensive so instead we had pre-bought bakery bits on the balcony which was lovely with the view! On the same theme the bar was extremely overpriced, beer was €8 for 500ml and cocktails €14. The drinks were nice but not worthy of that price. It was also frustrating because on arrival we were given a QR code that said ‘scan to find out everything about Les Refuge Des Aiglons’ and there was a bar menu. I ordered a glass of wine for €5,50 off this menu which they didn’t have in stock (it turned out that the menu was very out of date on the QR code) so they gave me a much nicer wine but when the bill came they had charged us €16 for this and when we questioned it the bartender explained that his manager had told him to charge us this amount!! He sorted this for us after some push back. It also turned out that on the actual menu it was €9 so they were just plainly overcharging us. When we needed advice on the local area the reception staff were extremely helpful, one lady in particular who couldn’t do enough for me, rang around restaurants to book us in for dinner & translated a webpage for me too! This hotel does not have aircon which we knew prior to arrival but we decided it was only June so we should be ok with the door open. This is what we did but every morning at 6.30am music started playing loudly from the outside restaurant and woke us up. On the last night we decided to eat in the hotel as we had an early start to leave & the food and wine was very nice but again overpriced. Fondue was €25 per head although as a whole Chamonix was quite pricey.

Everything was good except the fact that has poor ventilation. No fan or A/c so feels quite sticky inside. However, staff, location and services really good. Requested to change room due to the noise from train and the manager was very helpful and lovely to assist. Would love to stay again but in winter

Nice hotel with good service. Super central. We came to escape the heat wave with family, but with no air conditioning, it was still pretty warm… I booked on the telephone (in French) and reserved for adults and children, specifically because the hotel has a pool. I asked about the pool and Spa hours too. WARNING: they did NOT tell me on the phone that children are not allowed in the pool and spa - (only 1030-1230) - but since checkout is at 11, that means basically not at all if you only stay one night. I understand the rules, and the reason why they don’t want a noisy spa, but they should have made this VERY clear up front. So recommend this hotel for adults only. Families with children should stay somewhere else.

We had a beautiful stay, check it was amazing and even though we arrived early they were kind enough to store our bags so we could walk around the town while we waited for check in time. The view from the room was beautiful and the amenities were great! The only downside we had was getting 2 beds but we knew beforehand that it was a possibility. Check out was simple and painless and breakfast was delicious. We would definitely rebook here.

Lovely greeting on arrival by reception. Double standard room is spacious, with large bathroom and settee. Breakfast well provided for and games room was terrific for game of pool. Centrally located for walking. Supply of free coffee, tea, water and sparkling water 24/7 much appreciated. We were delighted and VERY comfortable. Highly recommend.

This is among the best hotels I have stayed at anywhere in the world. It's small, 40 or so rooms, with impeccable service, facilities, and food. We were upgraded to a larger room when we checked in, which was a nice surprise. Its restaurant Matafan was perhaps the nicest of the ones we ate at, more so if you factor in the outdoor setting with mountain views and the refined service. Breakfast was amazing. All the options one would want and then some. The hotel had a wonderful pool, a spa, a wonderful bar and library where we watched the closing ceremony of the Olympics. Every employee from the concierge to the front desk (Arnaud and Camilla), Flo who drove us to our hikes and went to the ticket desk at Aiguille du Midi (cable cars) on our last morning to make sure we could experience the views from the top of the mountain range. We would have really missed out had we not gone on that excursion. I can only imagine how much effort goes into pulling this off. If there is one phrase to describe this hotel, I would say Refined Elegance.

Abbiamo trascorso una bellissima settimana a Chamonix presso questo ottimo residence, consigliabile anche per il rapporto qualità-prezzo. Davvero impagabile il posto auto nel garage al piano interrato: ampio e comodissimo da raggiugere tramite ascensore. L'appartamento era davvero spazioso e con un bel terrazzo da cui si godeva di una vista superba sul Monte Bianco: sarei rimasta ore ad ammirare le cime innevate ed i parapendii che planavano sul prato di fronte al residence! L'unica nota ”stonata” del nostro alloggio era l'assenza del bidet e il fatto che il water si trovasse in una specie di sgabuzzino piccolissimo e senza finestra. Per il resto, non mancava nulla in quanto ad attrezzatura, la cucina era completa di forno a microonde, macchinetta per il caffè, lavastoviglie e di tutto l'occorrente per cucinare (ma noi abbiamo sempre mangiato fuori, come al solito in vacanza). Con una breve passeggiata (10 minuti al massimo) si arriva in centro e la posizione leggermente decentrata lo rende un luogo molto silenzioso: abbiamo dormito benissimo, nonostante fossimo al primo piano. Ottima la piscina interna riscaldata, in cui nostra figlia ha potuto divertirsi e rilassarsi dopo le lunghe camminate: aperta fino alle 9 di sera e senza limitazioni orarie per i bambini, eccezionale! Oltre che per le famiglie, consiglio Les Balcons Du Savoy anche per chi viaggia con un cane: ce n'erano molti alloggiati al piano terra e, con quel meraviglioso prato su cui potevano correre e giocare, è un posto ideale anche per loro (c'era anche un bellissimo gatto nero che passeggiava al guinzaglio con la sua padrona). Alla nostra partenza le signore della reception sono state gentilissime perché ci hanno subito avvertiti telefonicamente che avevamo dimenticato un borsone, così siamo riusciti a recuperarlo prima di passare il tunnel del Monte Bianco. Really nice hotel with great amenities. Be sure to check out the sauna on the roof as it looks out onto the mountains in spectacular fashion! The room was nice and very clean and the staff was attentive and helpful. This property is right in the city center and you can see the train station from the front door. A really good property and I highly recommend!
