excellent room, excellent location, unacceptable food

Trip.com books through a third party. I had a real problem with my booking once I tried to check in. I prepaid on line, but on check out day they wouldn’t let me leave until I paid again.

Amazing charismatic staff (especially Adrian), great entertainment, beautiful beach, great pool, clean rooms, had a wonderful vacation! We’d come back here every time. I could sit at the beach all day everyday. Can’t wait until our next visit.

The facility is falling apart, The only outside jacuzzi is broken or never on, There are no activites on site, the nightly shows just absolutely a joke. The food was TERRIBLE. The non alcoholic drink section is 2-3 drinks and they were TERRIBLE, Please someone help them find a good chief, No matter which place we ate in at their hotel we left 90% on the plates. No one was able to eat it.

Melia Costa Rey is a amazing hotel with a wonderful views. I love the food there and the service of the workers at the Kidsdom. My experience was lovely. The Entertainment staff is fabulous full of energy and joy. We hope to come back soon again. 🤩😍❤

There are 15 of us that travelled from October 12-19. Airtransat took care of our group’s private transfer. Arrived at the hotel around 8pm. Check in was not a breeze. I was told that my room has an AC problem and was placed on a temporary room - Separated from my kids rooms in Building 23. I was told to come back the next day to get my actual room close to my kids who are in the other side of the resort at building 31. We came back before lunch but again promised us that it will be ready by 3pm. We did came back but now told us there is no available rooms anymore. I pleaded and explained to them that my husband and I need to be with my kids. They gave us many run around and basically told us no they can’t. At this tine I insisted they can’t possibly do this and I won’t take an answer. They finally gave me a room after the lady the front desk came back and forth 3x to a person hiding behind the counter. Our two days was wasted dealing with our room situation. Whoever makes arrangements for all their rooms are just inexperienced specially when it comes to a big group or even with big families with kids. We were also invited to have dinner at the Level section for our anniversaries. It was a nice touch after the two days fiasco with our rooms. However, upon leaving a tall security man, racial profiled our friend and told him that he should not be in the area because he’s bracelet has a different colour. We had white bracelet and the Level has yellow. Our friend repeatedly told him that we had dinner at the restaurant and we were invited to be have dinner. The security was not listening and still racial profiled him. He also followed us to see where we were headed. We had never experienced this at all at many resorts we had been particularly in Cayo Coco resorts. They should communicate to their securities that they often invite guests from the regular side of the resort. I was disappointed that there should be a MJ show on Wednesday that was also posted but cancelled it because we were told because he is American that the owners from Spain did not want this show to happen. They should at least communicate that or should have changed their show posters by the activities area. I am giving 4 stars because of the people that worked at buffet particularly Claudia, Bernardo and Lafam(omelette & pancake cook). Also for the cleanliness of our room and the rest of the resort. Food was good. Specially the Japanese restaurant. Overall, I like this resort but hoping they will make changes on the people who makes the room allocations and improve communication with their securities so they don’t end up insulting their own guests.
