Handsome Dan's Port Renfrew

Great service and response from Handsome Dan's. Loved the cabin we stayed in (#86 Explorer's Retreat) : the sauna was fantastic, the bed super comfy, and the kitchen well provisioned. Cabin was very clean, even windowsills. Location of the cabin was great, being tucked away near the end of the short dead end street, so more peaceful than other cabins on the road into the Wild Coast Cottages. We did not book the bunkie but a peek through the window revealed a nice queen (double?) bed inside. The cabin sits high above the road below, so from the deck you are looking out above the other cabins and only see trees. It has a very private feel. The deck faces south, so it's nice and warm when the sun is out.

Just perfect. Ken was so so kind before and during our stay and made our first time experience in Port Renfrew truly one that my family and I will remember. The view is exceptional and the cottage we stayed at was nicely equipped. Wish we could stay more nights.

Waking up to a peaceful morning with the most beautiful panoramic views of the ocean and huge evergreens made our holiday the best yet. We’ve travelled all over the world but this is now our favourite place to get in touch with the outdoors and the eagles, seals, otters etc. Handsome Dan’s kept us fully informed from beginning to end. We stayed in a lovely two bedroom two bath ocean front cottage that was as clean as a whistle on arrival. Thank you Handsome Dan’s for your attention to detail and considerate handling of the special needs for our mother.

You can't argue that the place isn't pretty cool. It's not a rustic cabin in the Woods it is well appointed with all the amenities that you need. I was really quite comfortable there and enjoyed my visit immensely.

We stayed in a one bedroom cabin. It was dark and horrible. I have never in all my years of travelling pre Covid and since Covid been asked to wash all the dishes etc before using!! Mind you I went to use a baking tray and the grease on it was absolutely disgusting. The bedroom had a comfy bed and the sofa in the so called lounge area was comfy too. Bathroom was extremely tiny and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash container was not the best. In the joints between each one it was brown. How the hell they have the cheek to charge what they do cleaning is beyond me. When we arrived we had to send and e- mail to say we had arrived. All I got back was thank you. Surely it wouldn’t haven’t hurt whoever to say we hope you enjoy your stay, but nothing. Think it’s a case of take the money and that’s it. On top of that you have to take your garbage to the local tip. Why don’t cleaning team do that!

The unit was very comfortable for 2. A wonderful front row outlook onto the ocean and a well positioned hot tub to enjoy the view. The only minor nit was the limited options for dining out on Monday and Tuesday nights and a small fridge.

Handsome Dan’s made for a great base for our Port Renfrew stay. Our cabin was one of many privately owned cabins in a large complex on the hillside above the harbor. We initially had a little trouble finding it, but once we arrived we were very impressed. The cabin was complete with a living area, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, as well as a very big deck on 2 sides. The place had a bit of clutter in it, obviously personal stuff of the owner’s, but not overly so. But it did definitely feel like you were staying in someone’s house. The kitchen was fully functional and we prepared all of our meals there, no problem. There was a TV in the bedroom that had Netflix and Youtube so we were able to watch a few movies while we were there. The Wifi signal was reasonably good, which was important, as the cell phone signal was fairly weak most of the time. We had no trouble staying connected. The only thing we found a bit weird was that there was no place around the cabin or in the complex to dump your garbage, so you actually had to drive down the road to the town garbage dump and dump it yourself. Other than that, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend it to other travelers.
