This Hotel Needs A Major Overhaul If Its To Continue Attracting British Visitors . Tobago is a lovely Island , this was my 6th visit my partner who had never been & was so looking forward to it . I thought I knew what to expect although I hadn't stayed in Black Rock before. Grafton Beach wasn't my first choice I originally booked to go to The Starfish , however a week after paying the balance I was advised the the pool was closed for the entirety of our stay . We are pensioners & wanted the cocktails by the pool experience . The room was clean , the beds very comfy , the shower worked . We asked about lack of chairs on the balcony & were told that's unusual we'll get some for you tomorrow, we were there 10 days no chairs were delivered. We were expecting buffet & Al la carte occasionally, however we were the only ones on all inclusive for the first 3 days . Breakfast started out as buffet then after 3 days became mainly al la carte & the things on the menu weren't always available , even though you can buy fruit from stalls along the road the hotel served mainly watermelon hardly any bananas & pineapple . We had to order our lunch & dinner from menu the day before we wanted it & even then we didn't always get what we ordered or at the time we had booked , & even though we were all inc we had to sign for all drinks & meals . On the whole food was well cooked , lunches were excellent however the choices for evening were very poor a choice of a starter , 2 mains 3 sides & 2 desserts , on several occasions we only had one course . The pool bar was completely closed & all stock was removed during the weekend .The main bar was poorly stocked .Gayle , who was an excellent barmaid was unable to make our choices as ingredients were unavailable . My partner asked for red wine , there was none , Gayle got some bought up from Waves the beach restaurant along with a bottle opener . On Saturday the bar was closed for 2hrs in the afternoon as there was no staff to run it , there was no water or glasses on the bar either 3 times we asked at reception . The weekend bought more guests but less staff everything was very lax I complained to 3 different managers . Rooms not cleaned until 17.30 no toilet rolls left in rooms & towels weren't changed ,no toilet rolls in toilet by pool ( the pool toilets & showers were closed we had to use staff toilets) Unavailability of all inclusive drinks & Evening meal changes to our ordered food , plus the fact when we booked for 19.00 & only ordered the dessert we had to wait 45 mins before we got it . People that booked for 19.30 had received their starter & main before our single course arrived . When the bottle of red wine was empty , there was no corkscrew to open a new one & the weekend barmaid disappeared for 30 mins to try & find one after 40 mins a corkscrew was bought up from Waves & taken back down again .
