We had an evening bar meal in this charming hotel. Our window seat had lovely views over towards the mainland. Our meal was promptly served by friendly staff. Well cooked from a thoughtful menu ( we liked all the choices), our dinner was very good and value for money. The Douglas has a good reputation and we will certainly visit again the next time we are in Brodick. Great location and good atmosphere. Recommend.

Loved our stay at the Douglas.Proximity to ferry -blink and you'll pass it-we did.Room of high quality bed comfortable,room amenities of excellent standard. Hotel,bar and bistro furnished to a very high standard, breakfast choices varied.We ate there 3 out of 4 nights during our stay and were impressed each time although we anticipated a better choice of fish.Above all,the staff were among the most welcoming hotel staff I have ever met,very friendly and extremely helpful at all times.A joy!

Fantastic hotel I could not fault it. Great location plenty of parking, staff were fantastic. We had a spacious well appointed room facing the harbour with lovely views, with every amenity you could ask for, even bath robes. The breakfast in the restaurant was perfectly cooked with good quality produce. The evening meals were just delicious, I would highly recommend this hotel, it was just perfect in every way.

It had been a long time since my husband and I had visited Arran and we were looking forward to our stay at The Douglas Hotel. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the lady on Reception with an offer to carry our cases, if needed. Our bedroom was extremely large, very nicely furnished and spotless - as was the bathroom. Our evening meal in the restaurant, although not a large menu to choose from, was excellent. I had tried on two evenings to order a steak without success, and was able to order one on the third attempt. It was certainly worth the wait! Breakfast had a very good selection of fruit, etc., and on each morning my poached egg was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and all of the staff were extremely pleasant. We were very lucky with the weather, having glorious sunshine every day, but the enjoyment of our visit was definitely added to by choosing to stay at The Douglas Hotel.

We recived a warm welcome from the moment we arrived at the Douglas Hotel, The staff were all really helpful and dogs and guests are treated equally well. The room we stayed in was exceptionally clean and the bed was the comfiest ever. We intended to stay for two nights but due to the new ferry breaking down we decided to stay an extra night and they managed to let us stay in the same room for the extra night. The breakfast was very good quality and there was plenty to choose from. If you do stay at the Douglas or just passing through call in and try the fish & chips you wont be dissapointed.

We have just experienced five brilliant days on a first ever visit to Arran. We stayed at the Douglas Hotel and what a smart move it was. We travelled over on the Glen Sannox and within no time we were in the hotel and receiving a warm welcome. We had a front of hotel view over Brodick bay and the harbour. Staff throughout the hotel were excellent, professional and welcoming. Our room was well furnished, spacious and comfortable. Our meals were well presented, nutritious and value for money. The Douglas was a great location as a base and we used very available minute to explore this wonderful and friendly Scottish island.

Given that it looks like the hotel generally gets high ratings, it must be a luck of the draw thing. Wasn't staying at the hotel, but had really looked forward to a nice lunch there during our Arran visit. Arrived, clearly seen by serving staff, no acknowledgment, and there were only 2 other tables who were served and almost finished. Waited 10 minutes, no one came. Went over to the bar, the young guy behind it obviously saw me coming and deliberately walked away out of sight. Meanwhile, 2 ladies came in and were warmly greeted, seated by server, drinks order taken right away - well known locals or hotel guests? Naturally we got up and left. Very disappointing. If you go chances are you'll be fine, but don't be surprised if you have an experience like ours. Wish there was an option for zero stars.

What a marvellous hotel this is family wedding on Arran I had a beautiful room on Ground floor which opened out onto a private garden and was very pleasantly surprised to find my daughter grand daughter and great granddaughter in the next room with their garden adjoining mine we would not have been able to plan this so thank you all at The Douglas Rooms perfect food delicious and views and gardens to die for !

Delighted to return to The Douglas again.We arrived earlier than our check in but our room was ready -lovely comfortable room with a massive bathroom -although the weather was extremely cold our room was lovely and warm as was the bathroom. We ate in the bar on our first night and although the menu was much smaller than on previous stays we enjoyed our meals. Breakfast was lovely and all staff were friendly and helpful. The gardens are developing and we hope to return later in the year to see them in bloom. All in all a lovely break and we have another Douglas Duck to add to our collection.
