I can’t recommend this homestay enough. From the moment we stepped into the compound, the warmth of the family was immediately felt. You’ll be welcomed by a lovely lady, her husband, and his brother, who treat you less like a guest and more like family.
Within minutes of arriving, they greeted us with snacks, a gift, and let us know they were already preparing a local dinner. We sat down with them that evening, sharing a spread of local dishes and drinks, it was a genuinely special night. I don’t speak a word of Chinese, and yet through Translate we had a wonderful time together. Before heading to bed, they asked what time we needed to leave in the morning so breakfast would be ready for us which was very nice!
Morning came with their dogs greeting us and a delicious homemade local breakfast waiting at the table.
As for the yurt itself, it’s beautiful and incredibly cozy inside, exactly what you’d hope for. There’s heating in there in case you get cold as well.
We stayed two nights, and on our second evening we had to turn in early for an early flight. The other guest, though, stayed up late singing and dancing with the family, which honestly made me wish we could have stayed longer.
I’d give this place a 20/10 if I could. I booked it thinking it was just somewhere interesting to sleep for the night. What I didn’t know was that it would end up being a highlight of my trip to China.

UUtente ospiteQuesta volta sono venuto a Hohhot per capriccio. Il motivo principale è la vicinanza! Ci vogliono solo 2 ore e mezza per arrivare qui da Pechino. Ho scelto questo hotel dopo aver letto le recensioni online. Prima di tutto, la posizione dell'hotel è ottima, proprio accanto alla città di Dazhao e raggiungibile a piedi. Le attrazioni di Hohhot sono molto concentrate, praticamente vicino all'hotel, tra cui la Pagoda Bianca, le vecchie strade e molti templi. Un'altra cosa è che l'hotel si concentra sulla cultura del tè, che è molto borghese. Ciò che è particolarmente degno di nota è il letto in camera, che è molto confortevole e paragonabile ad un hotel a cinque stelle. Sono andato alla food court in bicicletta ed era molto vivace. C'è un ampio parcheggio davanti alla porta, un B&B di fascia alta!

The coffee machine at the reception is free of access and very tasty. The Good Stuff:
The staff here are great—really friendly and helpful, which makes a big difference. The rooms themselves are actually quite nice; they’re spacious, clean, and the building feels relatively modern and well-kept.
The neighborhood is very quiet, so I had no issues with noise at night. It’s also super convenient if you need to be near the 2nd Affiliated Hospital. While there isn't much ”action” right outside the door, if you walk about 5 or 10 minutes, there are plenty of small local restaurants where the food is really cheap and decent.
The Not-So-Good
The location is the biggest hurdle. It’s pretty far from the city center—you’re looking at a 30-minute taxi ride just to get into the heart of town, and there’s almost nothing to do or see in the immediate area.
The breakfast was the lowest point for me. It was almost uneatable, to be honest. There’s hardly any variety, and they serve the exact same few things every single day. I’d recommend skipping the hotel food and just hitting those local spots nearby instead.
Overall: 7/10
If you have business at the hospital or just want a clean, quiet place to crash and don't mind the commute, it’s a decent choice. But if you’re a tourist wanting to be near the sights or you’re someone who lives for a good hotel breakfast, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.
