The Crown Hotel, Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire

We were looking for a hotel with a pool - for a relaxing 2 day break. Came across this hotel which seemed to have everything we wanted. It has easy and secure parking. The room, whilst not big had everything we needed - bath and shower, comfortable bed and pillows, coffee pod machine, tea and biscuits. The staff were, without exception, excellent - friendly, polite, professional and efficient. They could not have done more to make our stay comfortable. The pool was lovely - easily big enough. There was a jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna. This is not a spa with treatments but it is a lovely place to have a swim and relax. The changing room could be upgraded and only had one cubical - but it was acceptable. The food was good. There was a very good choice and it was fairly priced. Wine was a bit pricey - house wine £30 but they were all good wines - so you didn't mind paying. There was a coffee area serving coffee and cakes throughout the day and a well stocked bar. It was a very relaxing place to stay- very good value (they were doing some good one and two night deals) and very enjoyable. Boroughbridge is a good location - close to Harrogate, Knaresborough, York and easy access to the two Yorkshire National Parks I would recommend and we are looking forward to returning'

We we stayed for a date and thought this was a lovely spot, albeit that it is somewhat tired and dated We had a nice room at the back of the hotel, which is very comfortable although the bathroom needed a full refurbishment The staff were absolutely fantastic, particularly the general manager Emma Gee who helped us out of a tight spot when we were unable to get a taxi and she very kindly drove us down the road where we were having a late lunch The bar area is very comfortable and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay We had a very hearty breakfast and will look forward to the next time we visit

We went on a package deal which included leisure club access and afternoon tea. The leisure club is old and does require refurbishment, however the facilities were fine for an hour or so and we were provided with gowns and towels. The afternoon tea was excellent. We were able to select from the full coffee menu (more than once). The sandwiches were full of filling and lovely and fresh. The scones were of a decent size and the selection of 6 cakes/mini desserts was delicious. Service was also tip top. Thoroughly recommended!

All ten members of our family have just spent the weekend celebrating my husbands 70th birthday at this lovely hotel. From booking to leaving yesterday the entire experience has been wonderful. Happy,helpfull and friendly staff, superb food, thank you chef, and very comfortable rooms. Thank you to everyone for helping to make it such a special weekend!

Called in for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the new beautiful interiors. They had a great menu and everything was reasonably priced. We ordered light lunches, the bacon sandwiches were lovely and well filled but think being served on a roll instead of bread may be better? Eggs Benedict was perfect. Service was okay but some room for improvement?
