LA POMELIE Valérie et Philippe PAUL-LABAUME

We enjoyed a wonderful 4 night stay at La Pomelie as we toured Loire Valley chateaux in late September. The location is ideal - centrally located among the most visited of the chateaux, but loaded with French countryside charm. Rather than staying at an impersonal hotel, we wanted the experience of staying with a local host, dining on home-cooked food, and enjoying the quiet and peace away from a busy city. This stay provided all of that perfectly. Valerie and Phillipe are gracious hosts and provided for our every need during our stay. Valerie is a talented cook. Her baked goods were better than we found in many commercial boulangeries. Breakfasts were very French and very delicious. The gourmet meal on Sunday evening was exquisite. Valerie's recommendations for dining in town were spot on as well. While I have previously lived in France and understand the language very well, my wife is not a French speaker yet still felt comfortable and was able to communicate adequately with our hosts. The room was well furnished, pleasantly decorated, and cozy. With three guest rooms separated from the main house, there is privacy, but also the opportunity to greet and interact with a small number of other travelers in common areas and over shared meals. I highly recommend La Pomelie and will keep pleasant memories from our time there.

I wish there were more than 5 stars to leave for a review! La Pomelie was the best I have ever been treated. First of all the house and gardens are stunning both inside and out. Valerié met us upon arrival with meringues and juice and we enjoyed her and Phillip’s beautiful garden. Our room was beautiful and extremely spacious. We also had a lounge we could use next door as well. Our bathroom was perfectly appointed and large. We also enjoyed 2 dinners prepared from scratch by Valerié. They consisted of 4 courses of the most delicious, locally sourced food available. Every bite was a dream and we are buying her cookbook just so we can try and translate it at home and maybe relive part of the pleasure! Her breakfasts were homemade pastries, fruit, yogurt, and I had hot chocolate. Her pastries would be the pride of any high end bakery. I cannot think of one thing that could be improved. Thank you for ending our visit in France with such a perfect experience.

Une adresse fantastique qui mérite 6 étoiles. Des hôtes charmants, l'accueil exceptionnel de Valérie et Philippe, des chambres et un jardin ultra cosy. Que dire du dîner traditionnel: une véritable émotion et un dressage digne des plus grands. Certains restaurateurs à la cuisine compliquée devraient venir en stage avec Valérie pour redécouvrir comment mettre en avant les produits de nos terroirs. Je me souviendrais longtemps des brochettes de lotte et de la tartelette aux fraises Mara des bois: des merveilles! Sans oublier le petit-déjeuner, parfait et raffiné comme le fut le dîner! En résumé: une étape de rêve où nous reviendrons certainement Béatrice et Franck
