"The Caramel is well-situated, in a quiet street just of the bustling Hamrq street, one of the most vibrant areas in Beirut. It is an older hotel, and would certainly benefit from a general renovation. But the hotel has an informal, quirky character, which may justify the "Boutique" description in its title. My bed was comfortable and the room had adequate furnishings and bathroom facilities. I did not use the restaurant. Front desk staff were helpful. This is an inexpensive option in a good neighborhood. I would stay again."

How cheap and desperate can a hotel get? Further, at breakfast wait staff would mix fresh squeezed orange juice with bottled juice when they thought you had your fair share of freshly squeezed juice!? VERY cheap, insolent and totally unprofessional OMonot. So you're only allowed one glass of freshly squeezed and the rest will be mixed-disgusting behavior - we are paying for our breakfast OMonot! Back to Phoenicia Intercontinental for me-tried, trusted and nothing ever goes wrong."

"The location of this hotel is good although it's far from being a 'beach hotel' as it is on the opposite side of the promenade which has no beach but has a pleasant walk to see the fisherman catching small fish with very long poles. It was a bit disappointing that the rooftop bar and pool was being renovated ready for the summer season as that would have made the hotel a lot more fun. If you want some sunbathing the best bet is to head to one of the pool clubs on the promenade. Went to Riviere but there are a couple of others including a very nice one only about 200 yards from the hotel which is discreet and more expensive. The highlight of Beirut is the people, very friendly and up for a laugh and great nightlife too. Also the food is excellent. Would definitely go back."

"L'hotel è ben tenuto e il personale è cortese e disponibile. Molto varia la colazione (la migliore tra quelle viste in Libano come varietà). Difetto principale, e grave, è l'impossibilità di disattivare il sistema di condizionamento nelle camere in autonomia, né di modificare la temperatura, che è regolata su temperature polari (24 °C nella prima camera che abbiamo usato e 19 °C nella seconda, quando fuori ce n'erano 38!), il che espone a sbalzi termici molto fastidiosi. Graziosa la piscina panoramica all'ultimo piano, nonostante le minuscole dimensioni. Pessimi i dintorni, con strade semibuie e sporche, che non danno alcuna sicurezza soprattutto di sera."

"We booked this hotel via ******* because of the free shuttle service they have. It’s the most expensive of the Lancaster chain of hotels (Lancaster suites, hotels &plaza) We gave the exact information of our arrival to the hotel beforehand and we were assured that our name will be displayed and someone will help us. There was no one! We ended up taking a cab and the hotel blamed us! I don’t think I’d stay there ever again"

"Il J Hotel è situato a pochi passi dalla mia gita a Beirut, a pochi passi dalla strada di Al Hamra, con negozi, ristoranti, farmacia. Le camere sono OK ma ha bisogno di rinnovazione e asciugamani sembrano un po 'ancora vecchie. L'AC era sempre troppo alta/ fredda nonostante cercasse di regolare la temperatura. La stanza aveva le attrezzature necessarie, le bottiglie d'acqua, la caldaia e il piccolo frigo. Wifi anche molto buono. L'hotel ha un generatore che è stato utile con i tagli di elettricità. La colazione aveva opzioni limitate, ci siamo recati solo una volta e poi abbiamo deciso di fare colazione fuori per gli altri giorni. Per il prezzo e il fatto che abbiamo passato quasi tutto il giorno, credo che l'hotel sia una scelta molto buona."
