Inside Barcelona Apartments Esparteria

We stayed 3 nights in apartment 1. The apartments are great, plenty of room and nice balcony overlooking the street. Very good location with most sites in walking distance. Aldi supermarket just a short walk away. Plenty of other markets close by. Apartment is beautifully decorated and very secure. 2 locked doors to go through. Our only disappointment was the noise from other apartments in the building especially the one above us. Very noisy and disturbed sleep.hence 4 stars and not 5. Staff are great, they are in an office on ground floor and most helpful. We would stay again , Barcelona is a magic city.

Lovely airy space, nicely decorated with no clutter, large windows with small balconies to have a glass of wine. Large bed, very comfortable. All the necessary equipment in the kitchen. Everything worked. The space was very clean. The staff were very helpful when we needed advice. Towels, sheets, everything was great quality.

We arrived at the office shortly before 3pm to be told that as we had given an arrival time of 3 - 4pm our apartment was not ready. At 3 pm we were given 2 keycards (for a party of 4). We were shown to the apartment. We went out later and returning about 10pm discovered that neither key card worked, either for the outer door or the apartment door, presumably because they had not been programmed correctly. The office was closed and we were left standing in the street wondering what to do as the paperwork was in the apartment. Other occupants helped by giving us the emergency phone number, but this was not answered for the first few calls. Eventually a staff member came and let us in and programmed the cards but by then we had been waiting outside for some time. The apartment was quite basic, the second bedroom was tiny, two single beds with a very narrow gap between them. Supplies of toiletries and toilet paper were minimal, and no cleaning was done during our 4 day stay. The price we paid was expensive for what it was and additional local tax was added to the price quoted on booking. I suspect we were overcharged for this having looked up the rate for 3* accommodation online. Having said that the location was very good, surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants. It was quite noisy at night but that is an inevitable consequence of the location. It is a shame that staff incompetence marred our impressions after a long tiring day following an early flight.
