The Ylang Ylang

I can’t say enough kind words about the team at The Ylang Ylang. Warm, kind and thoughtful, our stay here was couched in the gentlest and most abundant service. The home is beautiful and well cared for, with ample lounging areas. I love the open plan and the view from the entrance right onto the sea. The sound of rolling waves is constant. Whether it’s raining or sunny, we felt cosy. There was room to be all tougher, and room to spend hours or days apart with our own nooks. It’s true that the beach suffers from an influx of trash at times, but this really isn’t their fault and they quickly have the cleaned. If anything it’s eye opening to see the challenges Bali faces with the encroachment of plastics. Back to the staff, for me they make the place. The food they prepare was so good, but best of all was the hospitality. The location is a bit far from any action, but perfect for family or a group of friends to have quality time. Thank you Kadek… you are a gem and a truly good person. Your calm nature has touched me. Wishing you all the very best, until next time.

We were worried after seeing the recent ⭐️ reviews but after 10 days here, I’m convinced the reviews are fake. PROS - The staff. I am not sure I’ve ever been taken care of the way the staff here did. They made us feel like family. From caring for our 2.5yo most of the day, to preempting our needs before we even considered them. They were warm, intuitive, informed and honestly, perfect. - The prominent to Ubud. After dinner one night (9.30pm) it took 25 mins return. Though one day it took an hour (3.30pm). The lovely villa driver warned me on the first day not to go between 3-5 and I didn’t listen! - The authenticity. It was so nice to be in a villa with so many Balinese features and details. It felt comfortable and homely. - The food. The chefs really go above and beyond and every dish is delish. - The sound of the waves at night. Dramatic. - the proximity to other parts of Bali I haven’t explored before. I loved Sanur and we did a lot more nature day activities when we didn’t have to worry about spending an hour just getting out of Seminyak. - So many more. The driver. The locals. The rice feilds behind the villa. The general small town vibe of Saba. I could go on forever. CONS - We came in the wet season after HUGE floods. In December Bali had the most rubbish hit its shores than ever before. While the beach directly in front of the Villa was cleaned by people paid for by the villa (I think), there was still a little bit of rubbish further down. Not really a reflection on the villa but good for managing your expectations. - if you want to go to Seminyak, Kuta etc everyday it’s probably not the villa for you. It’s the villa for Bali veterans who are ready to reconnect with the Bali they once knew.

DO NOT trust the pics from their agency/their site. The worst accommodation we had in our time in Bali and Indonesia in general. This Villa is just awful! Wrong pictures ! The Room is not clean. overall a super disappointing stay, wouldn’t recommend!

It takes min 1.5 hr to be in Kuta/jimbaran/denpasar. Very old and dirty property. The beach is full of rubbish and there’s a dirty river merged with the beach. Yes the beach water looks very muddy. Throughout the property water leakage/damage was visible everywhere. Furnitures, decorations , plates/glasses/cutlery were from the 80s if not older. Creepy bathrooms with stains on toilet bowls. According to the staffs on site, this place has never been renovated/updated since it’s purchased by the owner more than 32 years ago including linens, curtains, pillows, yikes!. There were many un level grounds, very easy to trip and fall, it’s not suitable for family with younger kids, elders or folks with disability. We had to check out after 24 hrs being there. Owners refused for any refunds. The attitude is “don’t like my place, it’s too bad, I got your money anyways” Hopefully we are the last victim of this scam. Don’t trust the pics from their agency/their site. None of the above conditions were ever mentioned. If you happen to need some relatively big house to vacation in and don’t mind paying top dollars and don’t mind about cleanliness or any quality at all. This is your perfect place.
