SCAM - STREET SCAM We were approached by a man named Pauluy, who attempted to hand us some lotto cards. Even after we declined, he insisted and mentioned that his family relies on the money he makes from selling these cards and begged us to open them. He gave us the cards and informed us that my husband had won two free shirts and I had won the grand prize of either $1000 AUD, a luxury vacation, or an iPad mini. However, to receive the prize, we had to go to a new hotel and take a tour of it. He added that his employer wants to promote it in Australia and have more Australian visitors. He was insistent that we get into a cab as he kept saying he would get 50 Australian dollars that would help him support his family, and if we dont go, he won't get paid. We declined, and he kept pushing and trying to hug as and be buddy buddy with us, but both my husband and I felt that it was a scam. After all, who gives away $1000 so easily? He also asked for our names and place of stay so that he could send a car to pick us up tomorrow when we could arrange for someone to look after our kids and that we wouod only be at the hotel for 6 hours. We said no again, and that we had already planned our days. Fortunately, our daughter started crying just then, giving us a chance to leave. We were approached six times during our trip by people offering these cards, so be wary of such scams.
