L'edificio principale risale agli anni 30, poi nel 1960 fu utilizzato come abitazione e successivamente trasformato in santuario per la protezione della fauna. Attuakmente è un lodge, fra i più antichi del nord Tanzania. Vi abbiamo soggiornato la prima notte del nostro safari e l'abbiamo trovato particolarmente suggestivo: completamente immerso in una fitta foresta e con una pozza d'acqua alla quale abbiamo visto accostarsi uccelli, zebre e bufali. Le camere sono in casette dall'arredamento un po' antiquato e con un pessimo utilizzo degli spazi; in particolare il bagno immenso, praticamente vuoto ed estremamente spartano. Purtroppo alcune finestre del bagno non erano chiudibili per cui, data la temperatura piuttosto rigida di sera, era assai disagevole farsi una doccia. Abbiamo ceneto all'aperto (con una coperta sulle gambe) sotto un ampio ombrellone con cibo decisamente di buon livello ed altrettanto buona è stata la colazione il mattino successivo. Merita senz'altro dedicare un po' di tempo alla visita delle zone comuni sia per l'arredamento sia per le numerose fotografie che ripercorrono la storia del posto.

Dopo una notte in volo arrivare in questo lodge immerso in un grande parco verde ed "abitato " da vari animali è stato veramente piacevole. Il lodge è formato da piccoli alloggi sparsi fra alberi e fiori, un corpo centrale con la sala ristorante, la reception ed una piscina. Ai bordi uno stagno con mucche ed altri animali. Mentre aspettavamo che registrassero i nostri dati ci hanno fatto accomodare in un piccolo salotto e ci hanno offerto una bevanda fresca. La nostra camera era arredata in stile locale ed il bagno, spazioso, era finestrato. In dotazione della camera: repellente per gli insetti, torcia e fischietto. I serramenti erano un po' difettosi. La colazione e la cena a buffet è stata servita all'esterno intorno ad un falò. Il cibo era buono: cucina locale adattato a gusti internazionali. Il personale è stato gentile e disponibile.

Veramente pessimo. Camere fatiscenti e squallide, posizione infame di fianco a una trafficata provinciale. Acqua per doccia inesistente. Tutto vecchio e sporco. Si salva il cibo, accettabile. Incredibile che un tour operator lo possa prendere in considerazione in un tour definito "luxory".Assolutamente da evitare

This lodge is beautiful and offered a quiet place to rest and relax after a long flight from Canada. Our cottage was spacious and welcoming. The staff were very kind and patient. The food was delicious! We spent one afternoon driving to see Mt. Kilamanjaro. We highly recommend this lodge for those of you arriving or leaving through Arysha.

This lodge is a beautiful and peaceful place. It feels like you are tucked away in nature, surrounded by lots of trees and with game in the background. All the staff are extremely friendly and go the extra length to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are spacious and very clean and consist of everything you would need. Also, the food in the restaurant is amazing, the chef is very good! We had great lunches and dinners here. The breakfast is delicious with lots of different options. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely come back. This is the perfect place when you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful retreat when traveling to Arusha!

This hotel is a little oasis of calm on the way to or from a safari. The staff are amazing. Very kind and really go the extra mile to help you. Housekeeping is exceptional, the restaurant and reception staff are incredibly well meaning and the massages are amazing. We went to visit an orphanage while we were there which was life changing.

This was our overnight stay after we arrived in Tanzania from Kenya on the second half of our safari adventure. We wish we'd had more time to enjoy the lodge. The room was very spacious and well-appointed with a good bathroom and shower. There's mosquito netting around the bed. There's so much history and interesting architecture and gardens to explore. We arrived too late for dinner but did have a nice breakfast before we headed to Tarangire National Park. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful Stay!!! We had a blast. The food and the people who work there are awesome. We felt really welcomed after our climb Kilimanjaro. Also the whole location is really pretty, clean and charming. The wine card is huge and the coffee is great. Thank you so much.

The Meru Game Lodge exceeded all of our expectations on our first trip to Africa! Gorgeous landscaping, comfortable beds, friendly and attentive service, delicious, fresh and healthy food, and lots of interesting and fun things to do on site or nearby! We highly recommend this place to anyone traveling in Arusha or nearby.
