On the right side of the house there will be a wooden door giving entrance to the back yard of the house. The backyard is a shared space for all guest.Other things to note:Ceilings are 7’ but there is a beam in the center of the apartment if you’re 6’5” or above you may need to watch your head. It’s caught me a few times lolNeighborhood:A typical neighborhood on the east side of the river. More mature community, many row homes, and super residential. It is not as gentrified as other places in dc but guests that are familiar with similar areas will feel right at home.The neighbors are pretty friendly and will talk your ear off if you let them. A friendly wave or head nod and they’ll get that your not much in a talking mood.Getting around:Access to the Blue/Silver line metro are available via two metro stations both walking distance from Clean&Cozy. Capitol Heights metro is the closest (7 min bus ride / 15 min walk). Benning Rd Metro is the other (12 min bus ride / 19 min walk). Street parking is free, however out of state plates cannot be parked on any DC residential street overnight on weekdays.1 private parking spot is available in the backyard per stay. A DC metro card is $2. I have an extra one for my guests to use during their stay but will charge a fee if lost.House rules:No shoes on the rugs please. They're super comfortable so socks and toes allowed :) Please don’t lock yourself out. Only lock the bottom lock when you are inside Clean&Cozy. When leaving do not lock the bottom lock. This private Studio apt is located in the heart of DC, close to everything DC has to offer, we are short 7-10min walk to the metro station and a 5min walk to over 10 restaurants within the area. It's a great spot for someone who just wants to enjoy the city for a few days. The unit is very warm and cozy and has a great gem of an outdoor space for enjoying the sites and sounds of the city. There is only street parking, however, you can park on either side of the street without restriction. The unit has a half kitchen, no stove but has a microwave and toaster oven for use. It has one full bath with a shower. Just 4 blocks from the Shaw/Howard U. Metro, this modern English basement apt., with high ceilings is a walkable spot to a gourmet grocery store, bars, restaurants, the Convention Center, and Chinatown. The home has exposed brick, just 5 metro stops to the White House, the Mall, and museums. The Shaw neighborhood is vibrant, constantly changing, and full of diversity and young people. 15 mins to Washington Hospital Center, Howard University Hospital, Children's Hospital, and VA Hospital Center. This clean, large, light-filled, heart-of-historic Capitol Hill apartment comes with everything! A locked, gated courtyard leads to this fabulous, separate entrance apartment. Guests arrive to find a well-equipped kitchen (full-size, with granite counters) stocked with staples including coffee, tea, honey, spices and cooking oils, fresh linens on the beds and clean, plush towels in the bathroom. Cable, Wi-Fi, 32-inch flat-screen TV, washer/dryer, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, independent heating and cooling system and free off-street parking are also included. With a grocery store two blocks away, and an eat-in kitchen that seats four to five, guests have the choice of cooking or going out to any of the Hill's many restaurants. After a full day of sight-seeing, guests can sleep on the queen-size memory foam mattress in the master bedroom, and shower in the attached bathroom. For parties of more than two, the living room daybed w/trundle sleeps two. A comfy roll-away bed is also available, as well as a baby crib, high-chair or booster seat. Please note that the only bathroom is accessed through the master bedroom. The apartment is in a lovely neighborhood. Part of the original Capitol Hill, guests are easily able to walk to the Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, National Mall, Smithsonian museums, Union Station and Union Station Metro. Just yards from the apartment is historic Stanton Park: for runners, 8 laps of the park is a mile. For parents of young children, Stanton Park has a gated playground. The neighborhood is also home to Capital Bikeshare stations, bookstores, corner stores, grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, the famous Eastern Market and a fabulous weekend flea market. Our recently renovated carriage house studio is located in one of DC's best neighborhoods, just two blocks from bustling 14th Street (Logan Circle), 17th Street (Dupont Circle), and U Street. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, and stores within a couple of blocks. It's also close to downtown DC with the White House about a mile away and the National Mall close by! Our studio is the perfect location for visiting friends, sightseeing, and exploring all that DC has to offer.There are several bus stops nearby, two separate metro/subway stations that are each about a ten-minute walk, and multiple Capital Bikeshare stations a couple of blocks in all directions.You access the carriage house studio via the alley behind our home. You enter through the garage by entering a garage door code. The studio is on the second floor. It is one large room with a kitchenette.The kitchenette has a mini-fridge with freezer, microwave, hot plate, Keurig, and drip coffee maker. The studio itself has several windows, A/C, heat, a ceiling fan, ample closet space, and a combo washer & dryer. The full bathroom is in a separate room.Please note that the studio has a steeper than normal staircase to enter and exit. The stairwell has a handrail and is well lit. The backyard courtyard cannot be used.For the streets closest to the carriage house, we can provide you a free parking permit that allows you to park nearby in all areas marked as Zone 2 parking. In order to receive a permit, you can send us your state, license plate number, and make/color of your car. We will print you a copy of the permit that you can leave on the dashboard. Please note that the parking permit is only valid on the surrounding streets and is not valid in all of DC. Please also pay close attention to street sweeping signs to avoid tickets. While the carriage house is located in one of DC’s safest neighborhoods, please do not leave anything visible in your car.For public transportation, nearby there are bus stops, two metro/subway stations, multiple Capital Bikeshare stations, rentable electric scooters & bikes, and plenty of Ubers/Lyfts/taxis.
