Uga Ulgalla in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, presents a serene retreat, perfect for spending a few days off the grid in nature's embrace. The resort offers great Wi-Fi speeds and excellent cellular reception, catering well to digital nomads. Gluten-free options were available, and although the menus were limited, the quality of food was top-notch. Activities like horse riding with well-trained horses like Roxy and Rolex, and kayaking with an enthusiastic guide, were highlights of the stay. Our guides captured our experiences beautifully in photographs. The One Bedroom Pool Villas, with their charmingly traditional Sri Lankan architecture, were comfortable and well-designed. Bicycles were provided for short rides around the property, and the staff were responsive, accommodating, well-trained, and friendly. However, it's worth noting a few aspects to consider when planning your visit. Since I stayed during the dry season, the farmers were preparing for the next crop cycle, leading to ashes in the air, even reaching the open restaurant. Though not a significant inconvenience, it did affect the outdoor experience a bit. This minor detail aside, I highly recommend Uga Ulgalla for a delightful, immersive stay. Make sure to consider the season, as the dry period can impact some of the outdoor elements.
