Three Shires Inn

We went to to have a walk down to the Cathedral Cave and Slater's Bridge, then we stopped by this lovely pub in the village of Little Langdale. It has a good selection of local brews. It was very busy, but we found a vacant outdoor set and had some food and drinks. My wife said she had the best burger she ever had - it was venison. Parking is for customers only at the time of visit. You cannot park there, have a drink or whatever, then go off for a long walk. I'm sure the rooms are nice, but if you're not staying there, it's a very nice pub to visit.

Myself and my new wife were on a mini moon. Booking wax easy. Correspondence was faultless. The food was second to none. We were greeted by Julie who I must say was just fantastic. She catered for all our needs and nothing was to much trouble, even if it was getting me strawberry ice cream with mint ice cream. She said it sounded awful but I recommend this to anyone staying Lee was also a true gentleman and again couldn’t do enough for us. I don’t know the chefs name but I gave to say the food was fantastic and well presented. A++++++

Having explored the Lake District, as a hiker, biker and climber since my early 20s, I mistakenly thought that I knew all the great places to visit. I’ve ridden, hiked and driven past this beautiful country Inn, so many times over the years, and always thought “that looks quite nice.” As a writer though, I now have to confess that that would be an understatement. It’s a bit like saying that Wordsworth could pen a nice a poem - for in truth, the Three Shires Inn is probably one of the nicest country Inns that you’re ever likely to encounter. And, dare I say, having travelled the length of breadth of Europe, it’s a place that compares with anything elsewhere. The rooms are super, of the highest quality, and so very comfortable. The staff are welcoming, friendly, informative and professional. The food is delicious and simply perfect, and it all fits neatly into a truly beautiful part of the Lake District National Park. Whether you choose to hike or to bike, there are endless options from the door, allowing you to park up for a few days and forget about the chaotic world elsewhere. Yes, the Three Shires Inn is food for the soul, and should be on the bucket list of every lover of the sublime Lake District fells.

So much more welcoming with the new management - we feel like we have our lovely local back. Great food. Friendly and accommodating staff and a totally kinder atmosphere than before where it felt very much the opposite. Will definitely eat here again.

Just got home from a 2 night stay at Three Shires. I have to say Julie was brilliant, she was a great host and made sure we were looked after. Lee was also fantastic, great service and very friendly, would recommend to everyone. The food at breakfast and evening was great, wouldn't change anything.

This hotel is a favourite place we return to for a much needed break in hectic lives. The staff , rooms and food are fantastic - local produce used to perfection to create a delicious menu, and fabulous breakfast! This is a high class but down to earth place to stay, prices are extremely reasonable for an all inclusive break. Run by a great manager, it can't go wrong!
