This is a well-located quirky B&B hotel in the centre of Agen just next to the historic Jacobins church and very close to the Michelin-starred Mariottat restaurant. The hotel oozes charm and character, and with splendid old French wardrobes and other antiques. It is ”family-run” by a very friendly host who clearly tries his best to please. The very large twin-bedded room with a faded grandeur was comfortable and the beds gave a good night's sleep. However the hotel does have a ”Faulty Towers” touch. Our arrival was eventful: we were asked how we were going to pay and then told that the price for the room would be 160€ by credit card, including breakfast at 10€ per person, even though the website said 130€ plus 10€ pp breakfast, but he said it would be 150€ if we paid cash. He does not accept French cheques. One is left with the question as to whether this hotel is worth that money. Best call to confirm the price before you book. Also check when the owner will be out since often he is the only one there. We had just got our suitcases to the room and went down to get more from the car to find ourselves locked out of the car-parking area! The host had gone away to collect some goods and we had a 45 minute wait till he came back, for which he apologised profusely. The room had a very stale smell of tobacco, as it were “in the walls”. Getting the room to work properly was not too difficult but you might need to handle some poor lighting in the bathroom and a hair-dryer which is fixed to the wall, dries through a tube, and is very cumbersome to use. The shower over the bath worked reasonably, after a wait for hot water to arrive and after fiddling with the controls. However the bath was potentially slippery and there was no mat, making it a safety hazard. Breakfast was outside on a slightly chilly early September morning, with no option to sit inside, and was at the front of the hotel facing the carpark, where workmen were arriving to do some work and a drill was sounding in the background. The coffee was lukewarm, and we had to ask for a replacement. We were able to leave the car in the carpark until lunchtime so that we could do some shopping, which was kind. The host clearly tries his best, and owns that he is working to bring the hotel up to date, but one is left with the thought that, while it is a hotel of character, he falls down on the detail and still has some way to go.

The Appart'City is ecomonical, has has everything the self catering traveller would want. Shame the property has no views to speak of, but everything else is fine. The staff appear quite proud of their hotel and Agen, they are very eager to please - just ask for anything you need. Would higher recommend for those who want to be in the centre of things and be in walking distance of all amenities.

Viaggiavamo con due bambini (1 bambino di 1 anno e mezzo). Quando si prenota a Booking si chiede per un letto per bambini, e si chiama persino per telefono dicendo che se non c'è disponibilità si dovrebbe cancellare la prenotazione (Booking ci dava ancora la possibilità di cancellare gratuitamente). Con telefono ci è stato assicurato che non ci sarebbero stati problemi. Quando siamo arrivati all'hotel non c'era un letto bambino .... non c'era disponibilità, tutti i letti erano scomparsi ...(almeno il nostro...). Dopo un viaggio di 8 ore in macchina, non abbiamo dormito quasi, abbiamo avuto il bambino in mezzo tutta la notte, che stava muovendo tutto il tempo e vigilando per non cadere dal letto. Si tratta di un hotel dove viaggiano e passano una notte mentre si muovono in macchina, quindi essere preparati a avere figli e permettere alle persone di riposare sarebbe il minimo per questo hotel. Non sono pronti per questo.

It seems most people are just travelling through when they stay at this little 3 star hotel and restaurant. Every single interaction we had left us feeling happy and respected. Rooms are clean and well maintained and the cleaning staff are diligent. A brilliant (small) daily formulé de dîner has fish and meat options with a delicious desert. Waiters, receptionists, cleaners and the chef all deserve praise. Reasonably priced, this Campanile should be a destination.

Dove comincio quando si tratta di cantare le lodi di questo meraviglioso posto.In primo luogo, forse, Vincent è un grande ospite e si prende molto bene cura di te. Egli è utile e obbligatorio in ogni modo e risponde notevolmente alle email in un flash; siamo così abituati a essere ignorati completamente dalle imprese francesi su email. Ci siamo rimasti solo per una notte in un viaggio verso il sud della Francia da Vendee. Questo è stato immediatamente il nostro più grande rammarico, perché avremmo voluto che ci fosse stato per almeno due notti e lo faremo certamente nel nostro prossimo viaggio. La stanza era fantastica e tutte le eccellenti forniture di tè e caffè erano meravigliose. Dopo un grande sonno su un letto molto confortevole, abbiamo goduto un bel colazione prima di andare a Carcossonne. Questo è davvero un posto fantastico e mi aspetto quindi di godere di una visita di ritorno.
