This is so much more than a lodge. The lodge and chalets themselves are in a green haven of birds, beautifully appointed and welcoming. I was lucky enough to be invited to the early morning bird watching which was a fabulous introduction to our safari trip. Rudolph was my guide and driver. I could not have felt more safe in his hands. We drove in the land rover through amazing countryside and rural villages. Our first stop Liwonde National park where we had breakfast with elephants. Rudolph provided a private guided tour through the park and not only knew a phenomenal amount but kept us both laughing all they way round. The kale safari was unbelievable and well worth doing. Day three and we headed to the heart of the fishing village where we are the delicious local fish and we’re entertained by a group of young lads playing home made instruments on the beach. Then I was whisked off to a tropical island in the lake where I was treated to a night with the island to myself, with just a chef to look after me! This was a life changing trip which I truly thought was unattainable for me but Barefoot Lodge and Safari made it a most amazing reality.

Bella, comoda, molto amichevole personale. Il colazione e la cena erano molto buoni. In generale un buon valore. Il quartiere è un po' lontano, ma ha funzionato per me perché era a piedi lontano dall'ufficio delle ONG dove lavoravo. A volte altri ospiti erano alti, ma altrimenti non si sono lamentati.

Have stayed in this hotel several times, but this time it seemed really run down in places. Whilst the bedrooms remain comfortable, the communal areas are a bit tired, particularly the dining room. It was difficult to enjoy a meal due to the flies. Service at breakfast was slow. Went for an event but the conference room was dark, noisy and too hot (the air conditioning didn’t work). Lunches were chaotic as there were too many events going on at the same time.

La casa Eco era situata proprio a pochi passi dalla strada principale che arrivava dal nord. Pagamenti sono in Malawi kwacha. Anche se la stanza era piccola, era adeguata e molto pulita con una rete di fan e mosquito. Ho suggerito che una tenda da doccia sarebbe utile nel doccia successivo e una calda o una bottiglia d'acqua calda disponibile per permettere a uno di preparare una bevanda calda sia nella stanza che nella zona del colazione. Si è offerto un buon colazione. Horace e la squadra erano incredibilmente utili, mi ha guidato al mercato per comprare verdure. Tutto in un buon soggiorno

I spent 4 nights at this hotel at the end of a 3 month long trip around Africa. The room itself was fine - small, but clean and comfortable. In the spirit of Christmas, I wanted to thank the housekeeping and laundry staff, so I left a big tip when I left, but I wonder if it got to the people I had intended to receive it. The menu is not so amazing. It was almost identical to the menu offered at the Sunbird in Blantyre, which makes sense, but was ultimately disappointing because it really lacks variety. The open area adjacent to reception seems awkward to me - tables randomly out of place, chairs nonexistent - like they had an event and just never cleaned up. It was like that the whole time. It could be a nice place to sit and work if it were set up properly. The staff are great, I enjoyed them all. One complaint was I sent out a very small bit of laundry for washing at 10am one day. It was returned to me only after inquiring twice as to when it would be ready - TWO DAYS later and at 7:30am (while I was still asleep). That was a bit irritating. At any rate, it's in a good, walkable location and that is convenient. However, for the price, I think I'll opt to go back to Imperial which is just nearby.
