While the hotel is clean and quite convenient to get to an early flight the following morning, I found the room quite uncomfortable. I could hear the noise from the outside . It was very hard to sleep.

Everything was perfectly fine! I was just a bit shocked that the local beer bintang cost 12€. Even without the service fee of 2€. 10€ is far to much.
But the staff was very friendly and helpful with everything.

Weekend rate is expensive compared with weekdays. Unfortunately there is no swimming pool or gym. Suitable for travellers who wants convenient around the city. For the price - yes i will return to the hotel again. Thumbs up.

Good location close to the airport with free shuttle at 2 hourly intervals. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Theres not too much around the area but there are a couple of decent places to eat within walking distance .

Room with a window, with normal Wi-Fi. There is a large work desk, a large bed. The only thing missing is a refrigerator. This is one of the best hotels in the city, so we can safely recommend it for check-in.
Hearty breakfasts, a restaurant downstairs where you can eat throughout the day for not the highest prices. Good location next to a large shopping center, supermarket and night food outlets.

My recent two-night stay at Grand City Hall Medan Hotel during Ramadan turned out to be a delightful experience — one that combined comfort, convenience, and exceptional service.
Service and Hospitality
What really stood out to me was how the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. On our last night, we ran into a bit of trouble — the AC in our room suddenly started making loud noises in the middle of the night. Not exactly ideal when you’re hoping for a peaceful rest.
But here’s what impressed me: the hotel staff handled it so well. They responded quickly, offered us a new room without hesitation, and even helped us pack and move our belongings. It’s rare to see that kind of care and attention, especially in the middle of the night. Thanks to their swift action, what could have been a frustrating night turned out to be just a minor hiccup — and we were able to get back to a restful sleep without much trouble.
Hotel Design and Amenities
The hotel itself is beautifully designed — modern yet inviting. We stayed in one of their Japanese-style rooms, which turned out to be a real highlight. The room had a peaceful Tatami area, adding a lovely touch of authenticity. It felt like stepping into a little corner of Japan — perfect for relaxing after a long day. Plus, the Jacuzzi in the room was an amazing bonus — just what we needed to unwind.
Ramadan Dining Experience
Since we visited during Ramadan, the hotel’s thoughtful approach to accommodating fasting guests was a real plus. Their Sahoor menu was fantastic — delicious, filling, and full of variety. It felt like they genuinely cared about making sure we had a satisfying start to our day.
In the evenings, their iftar session was another standout. The setup — both indoors and outdoors by the pool — created a relaxed yet festive atmosphere. The menu was well-curated, offering a range of tasty dishes at a reasonable price. To top it off, their lobby café offered complimentary tea, coffee, and small iftar snacks every afternoon — a thoughtful touch that felt incredibly welcoming.
Location
Being right in the heart of Medan was another big win. Whether you’re exploring the city’s vibrant food scene or heading out for business, the hotel’s central location makes everything easily accessible.
Room Cleanliness and Maintenance
While the room itself was clean and well-maintained, I felt the bathroom could have used a bit more attention — perhaps a deeper clean to really match the otherwise high standards of the hotel. That said, this was more about my personal preference for spotless surfaces than any major issue.
Ambiance and Atmosphere
One interesting thing I noticed was that the hotel seemed to attract a well-dressed, elegant crowd — it felt like a place where Medan’s esteemed ladies and gentlemen regularly gathered. There was an air of sophistication that added to the charm.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a hotel that offers more than just a place to sleep — one that makes you feel welcome and well-cared for — Grand City Hall Medan Hotel is an excellent choice. From the inviting Tatami room and Jacuzzi to their thoughtful Ramadan touches and top-notch service, this hotel truly made our stay memorable.
I’d definitely recommend it — and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again the next time I’m in Medan

World class hotel. An opulent hotel experience. The room was very clean, quiet and peaceful with a nice view. The food and beverage outlets are amazing and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The service here amazing, free ice cream whilst waiting for check-in is just the tip of the iceberg. The deep joy pool, everyone should dive into once. Their luxury white fluffy towels, plush white bath robes and heavenly-smelling shower gels in tiny little bottles 一there's something about padding around in their fancy bathroom that feels gloriously decadent. The breakfast spread was a culinary delight, and the hotel's facilities, including the spa and fitness center, were top-notch. Located conveniently in the heart of the city, this hotel is the epitome of luxury. I highly recommend it for an unforgettable experience. Recommend this hotel to anyone that can afford it.

UUtente anonimoVecchi hotel di design che hanno bisogno di ricreare a causa di attuale layout veramente antiquato e non adatto all'ultima struttura come hotel. Scatola per capelli, sistema di illuminazione, aria condizionata senza controllo remoto 😐😐 apprezzare la gestione dell'hotel per guardare questa situazione. Se questo continua a succedere.. Non impossibile l'hotel internazionale Danau Toba sarebbe un crollo e spero che si prenderanno azioni immediate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The shower is erratic, flow haywire, No Live music at Lobby Lounge, Karaoke is Closed, and my room is facing the pool,so Noisy and Loud at New year 31/12 celebration.
TV channels adequate, coffee Tea r good.
Breakfast, average and boring.

È un luogo impressionante visivamente dall'esterno, con una zona accogliente, parzialmente aperta da pranzo/restaurante che si avvale pienamente del bellissimo clima di montagna a sud del lago Toba. Il colazione è servito a partire dalle 7:00 e il ristorante sembra essere aperto tutto il giorno, anche se il servizio si ferma alle 10:00, eccetto per le richieste di bevande in camera. Le opzioni alimentari sono una miscela di Batak/Indonesia, cinese e occidentale, la maggior parte delle quali erano steak o pasta, e erano fuori dall' steak. Purtroppo, ho finito con l'invenzione alimentare dopo quella notte, ma non credo sia giusto farli dare.
La stanza era molto comoda. Un armadio per la pendenza di vestiti e un altro rack. Asciugamani e asciugamani per camera. La televisione aveva diversi canali HBO, oltre a più programmazione locale, forse 12-15 stazioni totali da scegliere.
Il bagno è sicuramente orientato verso i turisti. Alcuni bagni di base come la tosta/pasta dentale. Idromassaggio a stile occidentale con carta da toletta e la tradizionale tubo d'acqua buttar-gun. Il doccia ha dato buona acqua calda, anche se i controlli erano molto toccanti.C'era un distributore di sapone a mano/corpo nel doccia, ma non c'era sapone da bar nel bagno o shampoo. Non c'erano segni che non si dovrebbe bere l'acqua di coppa, ma è Indonesia e non si dovrebbe mai bere l'acqua di coppa se si è un turista.
Certamente una grande opzione se siete in zona.

KKelv69Are we sure this is a 5 star hotel? Service was good, staff are friendly. Location is ok. Rooms need a bit of maintenance. The air con is TOO loud, particularly noticeable at night. No earplugs, no sleep! And connecting rooms are a nightmare if your neighbour wants to be loud all night. With so many rooms why would they allocate adjoining before normal? We had to change room after the first night. Hotel is OK overall

NnjqeugenePer la prima volta, sono rimasti in questo hotel. Grande servizio di contropartita, il personale è stato in grado di parlare in inglese. La stanza era pulita e i bagni erano riempiti ogni giorno. Non ci sono denunce. Super vicino alla stazione principale che collega direttamente all'aeroporto. Il colazione inizia alle 0630-1000. Il menu di ogni giorno è diverso. Un piccolo svantaggio è che i piatti sono etichettati in Bahasa Indonesiano, quindi potresti avere bisogno di aiuto se davvero vuoi sapere che cosa sono serviti. Alle 0700, il buffet inizia la stazione di omeletta e di noodle.
La manutenzione è fatta ogni giorno. Le lenzuola sono pulite, nessun odore, le tole sono anche molto pulite. Buono lavoro per l'hotel. Si consiglia di tutti i tipi di viaggiatori di rimanere.
