About 35 minutes away from the city and it was very underwhelming. Tours are expensive so we rented a scooter and rode there. It’s nice to kill time but not worth it in your.
This Buddha Park can be reached by bus to save money as it is 25 Km away from Vientiane center. It was built about 60 years ago, having about 200 statues of Hindu and Buddhist believes. I feel the area is more like a park than a religious site. The park is located by the Mekong River and not far from Thai-Laos border gate. We walked inside to take photos in about an hour as the park is not large. We saw statues of Gods, human beings, animals and devils. They say the tallest part of this park can be seen from Thailand side. We went up the huge pumpkin having 3 levels representing hell, earth and heaven and there are statues inside too. The reclining Buddha statue is long about 40 meters and you can’t miss that. We visited around 2pm and it was so hot. Coconut juice, mango juice and other beverages are sold in the park. Price is about 25,000 Kip. The park entrance ticket doesn’t cost much (about the same price with a soft drink). The park has trees and plants which are pleasant to walk inside. Bring your water bottles.
