"Took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." ~ Robert Frost Lost in paradise. What set out to be a 3 hour hike turned into a 6 hour adventure. Completed the intended route but got tempted to head up "just a bit more" the 3 of us thought. Reached the peak it was all worth it but it's the way down that got us. Without proper hiking equipment, we were advised by other hikers to take another route down. Half way through, we came to a dead end. No one was in sight but miraculously a local couple, frequent hikers at Bukhansan appeared out of nowhere (phew!) & got us out. It was late April & the spring flowers were still in full bloom. Perhaps, being lost in a beauty like this made everything easier. Weather was cool, we had our light jackets on. Thankful for the day, for the kind souls we met. Stick to the route may be the lesson here but the road less travelled has much to give too
Bukhansan Mountain National Park is an ecological island inside Seoul and a spiritually important mountain for locals. The best part of this park is that it’s accessible from anywhere in the city by public transportation. Bukhansan National Park is divided into two areas with Uiryeong Pass in the middle: Bukhansan Mountain to the south, and Dobongsan Mountain to the north.
Love outdoors? Love hiking? Come to Bukhansan. This massive mountain is located in the north side of Seoul. There are many trail options starting in different parts of the mountain. There are also 'dulnaegil' where you can walk around the mountain, rather than hiking to the peaks.
