Hard to find, and not worth the effort
Accessed over unsigned and unclear footpaths across grazing land. Not open when supposed to be open. Not much by way of information boards either. Quite disappointing.

Only opens once a year to the public
We walked 2.50 miles each way to see the castle but then found out that is only opens once a year to the public. Really ti is just a shell

Magnificent ruin steeped in history
Access to this castle is only by foot or cycle, as in the middle of a farmers field around 2 miles from the nearest road. Wear sensible shoes / boots as some of the access paths can be quite muddy and...
