This is my favourite museum in Cape Town! It has lovely, personal stories and displays. Please stop by if you have a spare hour or 2.
A visit to Cape Town is incomplete without taking in the District Six Museum. It perfectly captures the harsh realities faced by the people forcefully removed from their homes in the 1970s under apartheid rule. A place that deserves your time and attention.
Was a great time. Markus was 2 I believe and they had a kindergarden in there and Markus mixed with the kids... so funny!
The District Six Museum was both informative and moving. It gives an account of how this district was cleared of all non-white residents as part of apartheid. Having grown up in the UK and only really remembering the 90s onwards, I still find this level of institutionalised racism hard to grasp, but I feel the museum helped me to understand the effects of apartheid a little more. It is definitely a place that should be visited in Cape Town.
A small but must visit museum located in the center of the city. This hotel will give you a clear and concise history of the city. Very powerful for such a small exhibit.
