萱野茂さんの功績を初めて知りました。議員になった話は知っていたが、アイヌの人権や地位を向上させることを心ざし、一般人から金田一先生に協力した後に社会的にアイヌの問題を訴えた人生を知りました。地元では英雄ですね。
