The hotel is 5 mins walk from Susukino underground station and around 20-30 mins walk from Sapporo station. Breakfast was extensive and definitely the highlight for the stay with options like hotate and tuna sashimi as well as hokkaido crab legs! The room was small which was typical for Japanese hotels but clean and functional. There was also a public bath but was usually crowded. If you are staying at this hotel, definitely go for the breakfast!

Perfect 1-night stay in Furano! This hotel is super convenient and the onsen facilities are the highlight. Amazing Location - Right next to JR Furano Station! You can literally walk there in a couple of minutes. Perfect if you're traveling by train or want easy access to Furano's attractions. Private Onsen Baths - This is what makes this place special! They have 3 private natural hot spring baths called ”Ashibetsu,” ”Yamabuki,” and ”Shirakaba.” Best part? No reservation needed - just go when available and use for about 30 minutes. Open 3pm to 10am next Tip: Try all 3 private baths if you have time - each one is different!

New hotel - hardware is good. Rooms are comfortable. Gym is small though... Software still has a lot to improve. Staff are not helpful nor flexible to accommodate client requests. Facing the main street, room was noisy before midnight. No dedicated drop off point for hotel guests. Need to carry the luggages to cross the road before taking the lift up to the check-in lobby on 7/f. Imagine how chaotic it would be if you have 3 big and 3 small hard luggages as well as 3 children to manage. No hotel staff is there to help. Location is convenient but in the middle of the red light district and on top of a shopping mall and cinema. U may need to cramp into a lift with restaurant diners and cinema goers when you go back to hotel after a long day walk. Felt that many triad society members walked by me when I walked on the street. Though nothing happened, felt a little unsafe. The vibe of the premium lounge is exceptionally calming and relaxing. Chilling out here after a bloodshed shopping day helped you wind down completely. The view from the outdoor area of the premium lounge is far reaching and can see both the Ferris wheel and the Sapporo TV tower. Will not recommend this hotel unless proximity to red light district is important. This hotel is particularly suitable for red light district customers who want a place to do whatever they need to do quickly. Quite fascinating to seeing a young lady leaving hotel with a Japanese speaking old men. Somehow I felt that a business transaction is going on. The multi stories shopping mall, restaurants and cinema provide a perfect camouflage for this type of business. Well may be I got it wrong and they are just grandpa and grand daughter....

I wanted to stay somewhere near the Sapporo Station because I planned to join the day-tour to Biei and I also needed to take the train to Otaru, so the location of the hotel was pretty good although there were a few more hotels that were a bit closer to the Sapporo Station. Still, every staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was big enough to keep 2 suitcases open, which I personally liked the most. Also, this hotel is known for its delicious breakfast and it was even better that a buffet style and a Japanese style are served, which I enjoyed a lot as I stayed for 4 nights. Lastly, although it takes about an hour and a half to get to the airport, you have an option to take the bus to the airport from the hotel. Unless you are planning to stay somewhere near Susukino, this hotel can be the one great choice.

The hotel looks a little far at first (about 10–15 min walk from the station), but with the cool windy weather, it felt like an easy walk. Maybe in mid-summer or snow winter it could be tougher, but during our stay it was very comfortable short walk for us. The room was spacious and spotless. The sofa was already prepared with bed sheets and pillows, making it easy for a 3rd or even 4th guest to sleep (just make sure to put the correct number of guests, including children, when booking). The onsen was excellent – clean, large, and with real spring water. There’s also a washing machine (bring your own detergent), and a kitchenette in the room, though you need to borrow cooking utensils from the front desk, guest need to clean them after use. (No condiments are provided) Breakfast was very good, but the only downside is the 40-minute time limit. Most of the staff were polite and friendly, though one female staff at reception and a male staff at the breakfast area seemed less welcoming. Overall, I’d recommend this place to families who want a spacious room with a small kitchen and a proper onsen. Definitely choose the breakfast plan if you book.

Conveniently located about 50m away from Susukino station exit 4, and easily can walk to Odori Park and Sapporo station via a long and wide“Sapporo Ekimae-dori underground walkway” and skip taking the train. Takes about 20min from Susukino to Sapporo station. I love that walkway, it was sheltered, not stuffy, along the way there are many restrooms, exits to stations/ malls/ bus stops, food, seats etc along the way. And didn’t even rub shoulders cos it is a huge place and not overly cluttered like Tokyo and Osaka. Airport limo bus is about 200m away, no reservation is needed.

You may like to stay here if you are a fan of bed bugs. I found two bugs in a 20 sq. m room and tried to report the staff speaking limited English. They blocked my family and directed us to the check in and out machines until I showed the bugs. They then realised it's a problem and started using a translation pocket device to communicate with me to address my concerns. A 30 sq. m room is arranged as an exchange (or a compensation?) for the stay. But I can't sleep well that night because of losing confidence in the cleanliness of the whole inn.

MMay MoongLa Vista Hakodate Bay exceeded my expectations. The location is perfect — within walking distance to major spots like the red brick warehouse and Mt. Hakodate ropeway. The room was clean, spacious, and had a lovely nostalgic Japanese feel. The rooftop onsen was absolutely amazing, especially with the open-air bath overlooking the night view of Hakodate. The free late-night ramen was a nice surprise! Most of all, I want to thank a female staff member who gave us the best service I’ve experienced in Japan. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful. I didn’t catch her name, but she truly made my stay unforgettable. Highly recommended!

PPietro150The Smile Hotel Premium Hakodate Goryokaku is a typical Japanese business hotel, so although the photos of the rooms may look as though the rooms are reasonably spacious, in reality it’s just a typical business hotel, with minimal space.  While this should not be a big issue for many guests, if you’ve not experienced it before, be ready for a rather space limited experience.  Having said that, the room was quite clean and apart from some scuff marks on the walls, it presented quite well.  It’s also important to note, that since it’s a business hotel the bathroom is quite small, with the bathroom wash basin protruding into the bath tub & shower area and the toilet was clearly designed for significantly smaller users.  Apart from changing towels, providing new slippers and replenishing coffee & tea supplies, there was no servicing of my room over the duration of my 3-night stay.  This is all normal, so be ready for it. The biggest annoyance was that there was no air conditioning available during the period I stayed.  This is hotel policy at this time of the year, and the management clearly think that guests have no right to control the temperature, and therefore enjoy some level of comfort in their room.  Because of this, on my first night the room temperature was approximately 25°c (although I couldn’t turn the air conditioning on, the control unit displayed the actual room temperature), which when combined with the fact that the bed has an arctic standard duvet (or futon - whatever you want to call it), the temperature of the room was NOT conducive to restful sleep.  When I enquired about this the next morning, the front desk clerk bluntly said “open the window”, which of course I had tried to do during the night, but for some reason the handle to open and close the window had been removed, making it impossible to open the window.  The clerk kindly offered to go to my room and open the window (presumably using a special tool) once I had left the room for the day, which he did.  The difference in room temperature was quite noticeable when I returned that the evening, but why this policy in the first place, and the belligerence and attitude of management about guest comfort is beyond me. The other issue was the WiFi, which was patchy and unreliable on my floor.  The only way I could connect any of my devices (2 phones & 1 tablet), was to go to the lobby, connect and then return to my room.  Once a connection had been established, I was able to reconnect whenever I returned to my room, however the strength of the WiFi signal varied considerably when making calls using various apps (e.g., WhatsApp, Line and FB Messenger) and therefore the call stability was unreliable with calls frequently dropping out.  When I mentioned this to front desk staff, they offered to reset the WiFi on my floor, however it made little difference. The above matters (air conditioning and WiFi) are all things that are taken for granted these days and are expected of any reasonable hotel, so to experience the difficulties outlined indicates to me that the hotel management is not really serious about guest satisfaction or comfort. Draw what conclusions you will from this review, but from my perspective, it’s is unlikely I would stay at this hotel again when I next return to Hakodate.

YYi ShieanFrom the moment we arrived at Mizu no Uta, Tsuruga Resort at Lake Shikotsu, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquil luxury. Valet parking greeted us, and we were swiftly escorted to a path lined with zen music, setting the tone for a stay where every detail exudes serenity. Upon entering the reception, a majestic wooden carving of an owl, a powerful symbol of protection in Ainu culture, watched over us. In a delightful and intimate touch, we were asked to remove our shoes – a gesture that immediately made the resort feel like a sanctuary. Walking barefoot on soft wooden floors in such a refined environment felt like the ultimate indulgence. Live harp music floated through the air as we were led past a live fireplace, its warm flames inviting guests to roast marshmallows, adding a whimsical, yet homely feel to the elegant surroundings. The staff, attentive yet discreet, escorted us to our room via separate lifts, ensuring our luggage was seamlessly handled. Entering the room, we were struck by its sheer spaciousness. A half-sized fridge, thoughtfully included, perfectly stored all our chilled treats from the road trip. But the true star was the view: an uninterrupted panorama of lush greenery, stretching out to meet the serene waters of Lake Shikotsu. The combination of the stunning scenery and the luxurious in-room robe made us feel like chaebols, lounging in opulence and shielded from the cool lakeside breeze. As for the dining, the buffet at Mizu no Uta is nothing short of spectacular. Where many buffets struggle to balance quantity and quality, this resort excels at both. Highlights included a live dessert station and a live pizza-making corner, where thin-crust pizzas, surprisingly better than those from Furano’s famed Cheese Factory, were expertly prepared. The spread also featured an incredible assortment of sashimi – the freshest I encountered during my 1.5-week trip across various hotels. The salmon and mackerel, both raw and uniquely marinated in glass jars, were exceptional. The hot dishes maintained the same elevated standard. A simple tomato-based clam spaghetti was transformed by the quality of ingredients, while even the sautéed kailan was enhanced with the addition of Parma ham. Local produce, such as the fresh broccoli used in the cream-based dishes, lent an unmistakable brightness to each bite. The combination of Japanese and Western cuisine was balanced beautifully, with every plate delivering a sense of thoughtful craftsmanship. Of course, no stay at a lakeside resort would be complete without a visit to the onsen bath. While slightly smaller than the one at Lake Akan, the onsen here is far superior in cleanliness and upkeep. Conveniently, the bath is stocked with towels, so there’s no need to carry your own from the room. The experience is further enhanced by a sauna illuminated with soothing blue light, adding a layer of tranquility to the ritual. The open-air onsen is another highlight. For those who appreciate the purity of nature, the bath even features drinkable Lake Shikotsu water, renowned as one of Japan’s top 100 spring waters. This thoughtful touch, coupled with the stunning views, creates an immersive experience that is equal parts restorative and luxurious.

UUtente ospiteI would like to share a few words with you about our feeling of coming back to your Park Hyatt Hanazono hotel from 29/3/2024 to 3/4/2024. We are beginners of skiing, therefore, our first choice is a ski-in and ski-out hotel. Therefore, last year we came to your hotel and we came back again for further improvement of our skiing. We travelled a long way from the airport to your hotel for almost over 3 hours. However, we didn't receive a warm welcome from your hotel by the time we got out of our car. By the time we checked-in, the handling time took much longer than I expected, maybe we all felt tired after long travelling and wanted to go up to our room. Another guest who was sitting next to me seemed to complain about your service to another staff.. When we arrived at our room, only 3 mandarins were put on the table to welcome us but they did not look very attractive. Next morning, the breakfast was as good as last year, because nothing more had changed. But again, not very welcoming. Our dishes were piling up on the table long before they were taken away. That was not the case last year. We asked guest service to fold up the sofa bed as we wanted it to be more spacious. However, I called several to get it done when we came back from skiing in the evening. But we clearly said we could do it when we were out in the daytime. We booked 2 adults and 1 child, however, we could only find 3 adult clothes for onsen. We called guest service to provide us with child cloth for onsen. However, after tidying up, they provided us with another 3 sets of clothes for onsen again. So, my daughter wore oversized clothes to the onsen. It was not like this when we first came here last year. Luckily, on the third day, we met a new and young manager during breakfast, we received a warm welcoming smile for the first time. We chatted for a while and my daughter felt happy with him. Last year, my daughter made some friends here with your staff and learnt some Japanese from your staff. That made her like the Japanese culture and language. Ironically, after folding up the sofa bed, they mistakenly mixed up my daughter white colored soft toy - cinnamoroll - with the bed sheets for the laundry. Luckily, maybe with the help of the young guy, we found it back. My daughter was so delighted, thanks for all your efforts, but however, the soft toy had been shrunk by the laundry machine. The inner tubing was one of our favors in Park Hyatt Hotel, however, it looked obscenity and did not match with the natural scenery and the well-designed architecture surroundings at all. It looked like a facility in a developing country. Next Easter holiday was a late holiday, maybe no more snow for skiing. Originally we had planned to come again with whole families of six for skiing. Maybe it is high time for us to look for another ski-in ski-out hotel, though I have promised the young guy to meet him next year.

YYi ShieanOur third consecutive stay in Japan’s onsen scene brought us to Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort. Though labelled as a 3-star hotel, this resort is the very definition of an underrated masterpiece. From the moment we arrived, it became clear this experience would rival any five-star destination we’ve ever visited. Our room was a slice of paradise—spacious, serene, and offering a panoramic view of the breathtaking sea. Perfect for a moment of calm after a day of exploring. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the window, with its infinite horizon stretching beyond the blue waters. The bath experience was equally indulgent, with Dyson and Refa hairdryers in the public bath area. The soap and shampoo provided in the public baths? Luxurious, premium products that they also retail on-site. A small but significant touch that elevates this from your average onsen. Where do I even begin with the buffet? It was nothing short of culinary theatre. Imagine live cooking stations serving up dishes with the flair of a fine dining restaurant. From sashimi so fresh, it redefined how I think about lean tuna—the texture was almost reminiscent of beef!—to the incredibly generous portions of salmon roe. Each dish was top-tier, but the dessert station truly took my breath away. A unique pumpkin and sweet potato creation was the surprise highlight, and I couldn’t help but indulge in multiple helpings of the organic apple, crisp and fresh like it was picked that very morning. For fitness enthusiasts, there’s even a decent gym—a rarity for many onsen hotels. Meanwhile, the 24-hour lounge provides a range of delectable snacks, all of which are sold in their store. And though the prices may seem steep, the taste makes them worth every yen. The free daily scoop of Peter Beier ice cream was simply divine. Made with Hokkaido milk, the vanilla was already a showstopper, but the pistachio took the experience to another level. After this, it was impossible not to purchase their chocolate truffles—pricey, but easily worth the splurge. The experience extends outside the hotel, where an outdoor foot bath awaits with a view that will make you feel like you’ve entered another world. As long as the weather cooperates, this is an experience not to be missed. In short, Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort might officially be a 3-star, but in our hearts, it’s a five-star experience through and through. A perfect blend of luxury, nature, and comfort, it’s an onsen resort that deserves to be on every discerning traveller’s radar.

::))My first visit to Otaru was truly unforgettable, all thanks to my experience at this wonderful hotel! Located just a pleasant 20-minute drive from Otaru Station, the hotel is nestled in a tranquil, private area that feels like stepping into a captivating wonderland. I was delighted to discover a bus stop right across from the hotel, making it effortlessly convenient to explore the surroundings. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly by name, and they were incredibly helpful with our luggage. Taking off our shoes upon entering the hotel created a feeling of comfort and cleanliness that made us feel right at home. After a smooth check-in process, during which they confirmed our breakfast time, the staff graciously guided us through the hotel, sharing helpful information about opening hours for various amenities. Our room was beautifully adorned in traditional Japanese style, complete with an open-air bath. Enjoying this serene experience during the winter was simply magical! We also savored a delectable Kaiseki dinner in our room, which was not only a feast for our taste buds but also left us delightfully satisfied. The onsens were a real highlight, featuring an adjacent sauna. With daily alternating access for women and men every other day, we were able to enjoy both during our stay. Families will find this hotel exceptionally accommodating, thanks to its variety of playrooms and relaxation spaces catering to guests of all ages. Plus, the complimentary refreshments and bar in the lobby until 10 PM added a lovely touch to our experience. Breakfast was a true delight, with a peaceful view of the snow outside the restaurant, enhancing the serene atmosphere. On our departure day, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a shuttle bus to take us to the JR station, making our exit seamless and convenient. Looking back, our only regret is that we stayed just one night—I can't wait to return and immerse myself in a different season's beauty. This hotel is now firmly on my list for future visits, and I’m already looking forward to the next adventure!

AAhmedpomPerfect Family Onsen Stay with Baby - Ryotei Hanayura We stayed here with our 9-month-old baby and it was amazing! Finding a Japanese onsen hotel that actually welcomes families with young kids is super rare, but this place was perfect for us. What Made It SpecialPrivate Onsen in Room - This was the best part! Having our own hot spring bath in the room meant we could relax anytime without worrying about disturbing other guests or dealing with public bath schedules. The water comes directly from the hot spring and was hot but comfortable. The private outdoor setting was awesome! Large Public Baths - The main onsen facilities were beautiful with different types of baths . Open from 2pm to 9:30am next day, so lots of flexibility. FDining - They do kaiseki-style meals at breakfast and dinner where you pick your breakfast and dinner time slots at check-in. The food was excellent and they accommodated our dietary needs without any fuss. When we needed to change our dinner time one night, they were totally fine with it. Turndown Service - While we were at dinner, housekeeping would set up our futon beds. Such a nice touch that we didn't have to worry about room setup with a tired baby. Family-Friendly Features• Free baby equipment rental: bath chairs for onsen, regular high chairs, diaper bins, changing mats•Staff spoke English and were super helpful with baby needs• Tons of parking space (no stress with car seat and stroller)• Traditional Japanese room with tatami but baby-safe The Room Traditional Japanese style with wooden floors and tatami areas. Mini-fridge was great for baby formula and snacks. Room slippers provided. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Our room had 5 futon beds and a private open-air bath. Location & Practical StuffLocated in Noboribetsu Onsen, Hokkaido. Ryotei Hanayura is part of Toho Resort group - you can check out their other properties at tohoresort.com/english/. Easy parking with multiple levels. Clear signage in multiple languages. 24-hour front desk if you need anything. Bottom LineThis is probably one of the few authentic luxury onsen ryokans in Japan that truly welcomes families with babies. The private onsen alone makes it worth it, but the flexible service and genuine hospitality made our stay memorable. We'll definitely be back as our little one grows up.
