Had a lovely weekend on 23 to 25 May 2025 at the gorgeous Walter Raleigh Hotel. We are a Classic Car Club that was attending Classic Wheels in Youghal. Rooms were sparkling clean with very comfortable beds. Went to sleep at night with the sounds of the waves. Very friendly and helpful staff. Have to recommend Emily the waiting staff who looked after our group for our evening meal on Saturday. She went above and beyond, helpful and informative. The food was gorgeous and those in the group who got the Pork meal were still raving about it the next day.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in The Walter Raleigh hotel in Youghal on the 7th and 8th of May. We were made feel very welcome on arrival and shown a beautiful room with spectacular views of the harbour, public park and beach. The room itself was very spacious. We ate in the hotel restaurant that evening and were delighted with menu and food. Breakfast was outstanding as well with so much choice on the buffet menu. All hot food was cooked to order. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Walter Raleigh and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel Pat & Joan Quill.

I really enjoyed my stay,Michael, Olive,Brian and Patrick were excellent hosts.The food was delicious and my room was facing the sea.What a view to wake up to. I would highly recommend this hotel. It's location is perfect, you can explore the historical town or go east or West to sample lots more. Thank you staff.It felt like home only much better. Ann Fitzsimons

We recently stayed at the Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal for a little break away. The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning sea views. We dined in the restaurant both nights as the food was delicious. I am a massive fan of chowder and the chowder here was to die for. The staff were incredibly friendly. Aoife looked after us in the restaurant and she was very knowledgeable about the local area, recommending great spots to visit. Jason and Brian were the managers on duty while we were there and they ran a tight ship with great professionalism. They really went out of their way to ensure we had a fab stay. Thanks a million guys

Disappointing stay at the hotel. The rooms are very dated and the one we were in was particularly small and stuffy - we could not open the windows or regulate the heating. The plumbing in the en suite needs attention. No bottled water in the rooms. Breakfast was chaotic. It was not served in the restaurant but in the smaller tea room downstairs. Although there were empty tables they were not cleared (not due to a shortage of staff) and I ended up having to set my own table. We waited at least 20 minutes to order breakfast, which when it arrived was not great to be honest. Sadly, I will not be returning.

We held our mums birthday celebrations at the Walter Raleigh and made a prior agreement with hotel management for a two course meal with her birthday cake being served in place of the third course along with tea/coffee. We agreed a price per head and delivered the cake to the hotel the day beforehand. However when we arrived, menus were already on the table stipulating 3 courses and the waiter had already begun the process of collecting orders from the seated guests so it was too late to halt proceedings. The cake was brought out approximately 40 minutes after the third course had been served and by then we didn’t have teas/coffee to accompany it. We asked for teas and coffees to accompany the cake but were informed it wasn’t possible. The guests had to eat the birthday cake dry and it felt like a poor ending to the celebrations. When it came to payment, we were billed for the 3 courses and we paid in full as we didn’t want to amplify the issue at the time. We did however mention our concerns to the duty manager in charge that we were overcharged on the original agreement. These events spoiled the celebrations somewhat for us but my mum and all other guests were unaware of these events and had a great time overall so we would like to thank the Hotel for that. I emailed the hotel in the days following the celebration to express my disappointment. The manager wrote back and asked for my phone number so he could discuss the complaint further. I provided my number but he failed to get in touch and has ignored all of my follow up emails since. I feel overall it was very poor service by management in particular.

Avoid!! Slow to get table even though we had booked, then when we did the table cloth was dirty. When the main course came after a long wait, the starter plates had not been cleared, so I had to put them on an empty table. Our server disappeared, no cutlery, shortage of water, no ketchup, food was dry, burger bun was stale and then we found it hard to find someone to pay.

Had a wonderful stay to celebrate my mother in laws 90th birthday. Everything was just perfect. The food and service was 5*. All staff we met were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much effort. The rooms are really comfortable, best night's sleep. Enjoyed morning coffee from the great coffee machine in our room sitting looking out at the fantastic view of Green Park and the Blackwater. What a great start to the day followed by the excellent breakfast. Thank you all.

We had booked dinner for 7 people on feb 21st for 8pm. Arrived at 8.05 pm .. stood around for about another 5min before someone attended to us , to be told the kitchen was closed , we were late … and that was that ! Rude staff . Never again ! They did book a nearby restaurant for us , and a taxi to it. That restaurant was extremely welcoming, fab waitress, Catriona(?) We left a nice bit of money at the second restaurant, Clancy’s , think the very very quiet Water Raleigh would have benefited from our custom ! Their loss

Dined here yesterday without a booking. Though it was very busy the staff accommodated us. I had the lamb dinner and my wife had the chicken salsano. Both meals were absolutely amazing and delicious. The service, cleanliness of the hotel and food were first class.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times. It has always been top notch! Comfy, clean spacious rooms, lovely breakfast and food in the restaurant, friendly welcoming staff and an absolutely great location with the town to one side and the beach to the other.. 10/10, I'll be back again :)

Excellent base for walking/cycling the Youghal Greenway. Great value dinner and overnight package; most friendly and helpful staff; excellent breakfast. We walked to Killeagh and got the bus back ; following day do Killeagh to Middleton and bus back ! Lovely view of garden opposite and sea from bedroom

Myself, partner and new born stated here as a base for visiting family. It exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, making sure our needs were met throughout the stay. The room was lovely and fresh. I found the bed very comfy and easy to fall asleep in, while usually I find it difficult unless my own bed. The choice with breakfast was excellent and tasty. We had a 3 course in the bar one night and it was perfect. Food delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely be booking here in the future on our visits to family

Myself and my Pal Terrie had an exceptional 3 night stay in this beautiful Hotel on the 1st May in the wonderful town of Youghal. This historic building is decorated to a very high standard with lots of lovely seating areas, a great Bar with fantastic food and well appointed Bedrooms - ours faced the Sea and we loved it. We felt so welcomed and valued by the exceptional Staff who were friendly and interested in us and looked after us so well. In fact The Staff are an amazing team - full of enthusiasm and very happy in their work - we loved all the chats and laughter. I want to say a Big Thank You to you all for the exceptional care you took of us for those few days. From Olive who checked us in, to Michael and Jason, the fantastic Managers, our first impression was perfect, then we met Ross and his Manager Brian in the Bar - great fun here with the lads and the fantastic Chefs who produced such tasty cooked food of a very high standard, then lovely Dolores and beautiful Aoife at Breakfast who told us all about her favourite Beach 'Whiting Bay' which we visited and loved - you all made our Trip to historic Youghal one of the best we've had on our Staycation breaks in Ireland. Best wishes from the two of us and hope to see you all again soon. if you are looking for the real Ireland come to beautiful Youghal and stay in this exceptional Hotel - you will love it as much as we did.
