My first opinion of the hotel was incredible. The hotel looked lovely and clean. The “free” parking was unavailable, fair enough. Then, when asking for alternate parking they “generously” offered a discounted NCP parking at £17.50 a night. We had to go to another parking space at £12 a night, which was not discounted. The member of staff that “greeted” us in reception was incredibly rude and unhelpful and just said “that’s the price the parking will be anywhere”. When arriving at the apartment there were several available parking spots, so they lied to us. They also asked for a £100 deposit “just in case we broke something”. I thought initially that she was being sarcastic, but she was very serious. It made me feel disgusted of how they treat their guest. The bathroom were very unclean and dirty. There was a disgusting smell, what I can describe as a mouldy smell. It followed us throughout the apartment. So even the couch had the mouldy smell. It begs the question: how often do they actually clean the apartments? Then when taking a shower and freshening up the water unexpectedly went freezing cold. How often do they service their boiler? Then the Wi-Fi would dip in quality every so often, in the end we just used our own data. It was easier. I expected this kind of service from an old bed and breakfast in a deprived area but not in York, where there’s plenty of tourist. But, unfortunately people will keep putting their money and faith in to this business not knowing what they’re getting in to. My score is 1.5/5. At least they tried to be polite towards the end of the stay, but damage done, there’s no going back after the fiasco at the beginning. We will look elsewhere.
