We’ve read some of the reviews and staying at Black Gat Guest Ranch is more than it’s amenities combined. From day one we were welcomed into a very cosy, rustic home with a gorgeous lobby area, filled with tapestries, a range of backpack foods (to grab & go for free!) etc… True, the rooms are not overly complex (though the wi-fi’s great.) But you’ll be hard-pressed to find a location with this much character overlooking such a beautiful view. The owners are delightful and the breakfast is more than delicious. A long table filled with juices, coffee, handmade scrambled egg/bacon oven dishes (veggie as well) hash potatoes… if you like oven dishes, you’ll love it here. And if you have a sweet tooth: try the freshly made carrot/banana cakes with icing! We found this to be our most memorable stay / the perfect homebase to take excursions from during our trip.

The breakfast was great especially the mini cinnamon buns. The disappointed part was the staff. The chef was quite rude with our kids. She seemed not welcome the kids at all. When we were trying to get some food in the lobby. The staff yelled both my kid and my friend’s kid. “They are not allowed to touch the food here”. When we brought this issue to the owner he responded as it’s our policy for food handling. I totally understand that but maybe with a manner? Will never ever go back for sure!

Heel afgelegen, er is geen restaurant of winkel in de buurt. Wel goed verzorgd qua incheck, vriendelijkheid en trails die vanaf de ranch beginnen. Er is een gemeenschappelijke ruimte waar je gebruik van mag maken, de hele dag koffie & thee met koekjes en fruit. Ontbijt is goed verzorgd om 08:30u. Kamers zijn schoon, maar erg oubollig en gehorig.
