I went recently with my husband for afternoon tea, which was a birthday present for his birthday. The food was excellent, one of the best afternoon teas we have ever had. But, oh dear, who allowed dogs into where we were eating, which was a lounge with armchairs and low tables. Our tea was laid out on a low table (in the full sun) and two couples brought their dogs in and the dogs immediately made for the food! I can’t believe that a hotel of that standard would allow such a thing to happen! As far as I could see dogs are allowed throughout the hotel. Very disappointing and almost spoilt our treat!

This was a real pleasant surprise, what a hotel, excellent decor, wonderful setting, and we were given a room with superb view of lake Windermere. Food is excellent and a very good breakfast. My only comment is whilst the majority of staff are excellent and do everything to make your stay wonderful, there a couple who need to learn from the others.

Here for a wedding (inclusive use over late Friday - Sunday morning) Absolutely fantastic staff - so helpful and friendly! Top notch wedding co-ordinator. Amazing building ... beautiful rooms (Library, Drawing Room, 1930s Bar), open fire in the hallway, stunning Gone With The Wind staircase! Really great bedroom with a view over the Lake ... I felt like royalty for the weekend. The only minor disappoin**ent was that the piano was ornamental ... but then again, I guess not everyone would want to hear my rendition of Chopsticks all night!

5* lovely hotel,clean,tidy and friendly staff. Great breakfast with fresh juice,fruit and a range of hot food including a full English. Lovely view over Windermere and nice teas and coffee in the room with sweets and fresh sheets and water replenished daily. Would definitely return!

We stayed here early March for the mini moon package and felt compelled to share our experience which couldn’t have been better. From the moment we checked the fire a roaring at reception, the room was lovely with water, and sweets which was a bonus. The staff couldn’t have done more, keiran especially was excellent, ensuring we had what we needed and were happy. Definitely recommend this place for a remote escape! The tasting menu is a must!
