Disappointed . When we arrived we had to ring the bell numerous times to get someone to answer after being texted and told our room was ready and we could check in. The young lady took our info & then disappeared while we got our luggage from the car.I had to knock on doors to find her to confirm our room# since she did not give us a room number at checkin. Very basic amenities in room. No bottled water & no safe for valuables just shampoo and soap. Our room looked tired & and it had a weird portable bar pushed up against the wall. Antique wardrobe that was beautiful on outside but falling apart inside. The front porch had a hole from rotten wood where a high heel could easily go through and cause a fall. The only people we saw working there were a very friendly chef and a server who was not friendly and never smiled. The thing that surprised us most was the sign that said if you stained the linens there would be $100 charge. The linens were not high quality. If you forgot to turn in your parking pass another $100 charge. It is obvious this was once a beautiful BnB that is now just a corporate one that lacks love and attention. We travel extensively and have stayed in numerous BnBs. This was not one of our favorites particularly for the price.

Dale, the manager who greeted me, did a great job handling my special requests, my need for information, help with parking, etc. This is a beautiful home and a great place for couples, or even single folks, to unwind and to enjoy being in the heart of Wilmington’s wonderful historic district.

GORGEOUS home, STUNNINGLY furnished. We're in our late 60s, from Manhattan and have travelled the world and, hands-down, probably the most beautiful and elegantly furnished B&B we've stayed at in the U.S. The 2 men who previously owned it had exceptional taste in upholstery fabrics, wallpaper, color. UNFORTUNATELY...we were greeted by a young woman whose voice was 3x louder than any human being I have ever been in the presence of...wearing an outfit that was...er, "remarkable" for someone greeting guests at this stunning historic home. Our room was on the 3rd floor and every word she said, downstairs, in the kitchen behind walls, was like it was blasted through loudspeakers. Totally had no self-awareness, NO understanding of her role. (And I might add that we're not "formal" people -- very chatty and friendly and happy). Dining room is stunning -- 14 ft (?) ceilings at least, gorgeously furnished and beautiful table set for breakfast which was...inedible. I am not a picky eaters, and we like oats -- but this was like some parfait of rolled oats and yogurt -- we both had a bite and just -- couldn't. Looking around the table, that seemed to be true for all. THEN there was the bedding. It was late January. It was warm for the season but COLD at night. Our bed had a sheet on it and what I had originally thought was a quite but was actully just a very thin blanket -- not wool but modern, inexpensive. I searched the room for a blanket and found -- another blanket. One of those loosely woven cotton ones that you can see through. The sheets were also thin -- that was not a problem but point is NO WARMTH. Also, the pillows were many on the bed but useless. Incredibly soft and odd . I have slept with many various types of pillows and am not picky but these were impossible. When I asked if they might have another pillow -- they were utterly flummoxed by the request. STUNNING BUILDING. BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED. UTTERLY ELEGANT. GREAT LOCATION -- can walk to the river and river walk BUT -- boy, do they need new/better staff and a COOK! Just give me bacon and eggs and coffee and some toast or a roll -- I am not fussy!

Every moment was special. We were treated well and the rooms were lovely. Breakfast was elegant. The staff was very friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived to the last minute. They helped us with whatever we asked and more.

We stayed here only one night, on our way from Washington DC to Charleston. I wish we had an extra night, so we could explore Wilmington and just enjoy the home. Beautiful BnB. Ample staff available to help with whatever you need. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast the next morning. They have a set weekly breakfast menu. We ended up with Shrimp and Grits. My husband doesn’t like seafood, but they happily substituted the shrimp. It was a bit strange for me to eat this for breakfast, but I have to say, absolutely delicious! Really nice stay. The only thing I could add as an improvement is to provide a heavier blanket for the room. The bed only had a very light throw, and I was quite cold overnight. I like to be able to snuggle and feel weight of a heavier blanket. I checked cupboards but there were none there. Just an idea. The whole property is super clean! Thanks and if we’re ever travelling through Wilmington again, we will definitely stop by once more.

We planned to stay here on NYE except that the HVAC system was broken and we were moved to a sister hotel, Graystone Inn. Our room was nicely decorated and had a comfortable bed. The hotel was very gracious and helpful with the move, especially Dale. We ate breakfast here on New Year’s Day. The omelette and potatoes were cooked to perfection. We will try to stay here again.
