The Vermont House

My husband and I planned a trip away for the weekend. James was amazing! There were some glitches planning the trip, but James kept in contact and worked everything out for us. We got a flat tire on the way there and could not make our weekend! So upsetting!! Again, James handled the situation with professionalism and grace. We are so hopeful to get up there sometime soon

The hotel itself is cute and nicely in the middle of "downtown" Wilmington, looked clean and the room was nice, though small. The room was very warm and the heat coudln't seem to be adjusted so just opened the windows during the day. By evening it was cool enough to close the windows. I'll say this, if you have ANY issues with noise and sleeping, this isn't the spot for you. I can reasonably sleep in most/many situations but the tractor trailers rolling through the main drag the hotel is on was loud, very loud considering that the windows were closed and locked. Without knowing this was a major thoroughfare for trucks, I would suggest finding something else if you have issues with noise. The check in via text was different but worked out okay, checking out wasn't addressed where we'd leave the key so we left it at the smoothie shop attached to the business where we picked up the key on arrival. We didn't have any warm water the next morning, ran the water on the hottest setting for over 5 minutes and still the water was barely warm and definitely not at all warm enough to shower. We ended up having to forgo that as it was 9:30 and check out was at 10. When I texted the keeper about leaving the key where we did they responded great and thanks. I then let them know about the shower, that we'd tried on the hottest setting and ran it for more than 5 minutes, still had zero hot water and couldn't shower before leaving. There was no response at all, no apology, nothing. And I gave it 3-4 days since checking out to write this review to see if there'd be any response to the shower issue - still nothing. So, for that reason I don't see us staying there again. It's not an inexpensive place at all and to have no hot water available in the morning for a shower before checkout and then not saying or doing anything to make the situation righted left us with a bad taste about this place.

Nice rooms, great location and wonderful hosts. I appreciated the text from Haley before check-in suggesting places for dinner and breakfast. A nice touch. The inn feels bright and warm and has an easy, low key vibe. I will definitely be back.

This was a great place to spend a couple of nights in the small, but very cute town of Wilmington. James was the perfect host, giving us loads of recommendations on places to eat and some good hiking trails in the area - some that we wouldn’t have known about without his knowledge of the area. James really has thought of everything including a little ‘help yourself’ cupboard with essentials such as extra coffee, soaps and sanitary products. The bar area wasn’t open but it’s just as good to bring your own wine and sit out in the lobby or garden with other guests. Overall an excellent location and great place to stay. Thanks James!

Great stay in Wilmington at this historic hotel. Very comfortable room and updated bathroom. James sent instructions and suggestions for dining via text. The only negative aspect of my stay was no instructions or person to be seen the morning of checkout. Check out was 10 and I had not received any instructions prior which surprised me since James had been so communicative previously. I texted asking what to do with my key and then stood around waiting for 10 minutes by the front door when I needed to be on the road. It is understandable that things come up and he might not have been available to be there at check out time, but there should have been instructions sent prior to check out time or perhaps something posted in the lobby letting people know what to do. Kind of left a bad taste about the stay, but it was a lovely and clean building. Had a nice outdoor area and free parking on the street outside or the lot across the way. Still a 5 star stay. Lovely little town.

Great stay in the Vermont house. Our room had everything we needed/expected and we had a very comfortable night's sleep. James was a perfect host (even if we never met him as we arrived late). He texted us with the code for the main entrance and recommended a couple of places to eat that evening.

My fiancé and I have stayed at multiple hotels near Mount Snow and The Vermont house was by far the best. Our room was perfect. Plenty of space for our bags and ski gear, very comfortable bed and a nice modern bathroom. The staff was extremely friendly and even helped us with dinner recommendations. The location of the hotel was great. It’s right on the main ***** in Wilmington and in walking distance to 3 or 4 very good restaurants and a couple really fun bars. It’s only a 15-20 minute drive to the mountain which was very convenient. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is going to Mt. Snow or even just visiting the area.

I liked the Vermont House. It's a cute little place (it's not quite a hotel or bnb) in the middle of Wilmington. The best part is its location, right in the middle of town. There are many nice restaurants / shops nearby (I liked the bookstore next door). It's about 15 minutes to Mt Snow and it's at the intersection of two major Vt highways. The room was very comfortable and cute. The bathroom looked amazing. There's a heater in the bathroom which warms up the floor a bit :^). There is a coffeemaker and fridge in the room. The common area is pretty. The caretaker is amazing and seems to answer every phone call in one second. It was definitely a nice experience and the price was reasonable. The negative part of the hotel is also its location. It's right on the main road so there's quite a bit of exterior noise. Having said that, I slept well even though I'm a light sleeper. Being on the main road, you're susceptible to people doing treework at 8 am (thankfully i was already up), plowing the street, etc. Parking is across the street in a public lot which has potholes to rival Manhattan. The wiFi worked very well in the room.

In center of Wilmington so walking distance to Anchor Seafood, Maple Leaf Tavern, and various shops and other restaurants. Also a scenic town to walk around. About a 15 min drive to mount snow. A short drive to Dover to more restaurants. Room was clean and has comfy bedding, remodeled hi-quality bathroom, independent heating and a/c. nice outside patio area in the back and two front porches for outside gatherings. 1st floor has a bar, fireplace, seating area, fridge, tv for gatherings. Building is mostly remodeled/updated. Easy check in w simple instructions texted after reservation. Free parking across street for over-nite but plenty of parking on street right in front of hotel for daytime and unloading. Very convenient parking. I chose to stay in Wilmington for ski trips instead of mount snow slopeside because cheaper, easier access to car (no valet), nicer rooms, and closer proximity to after-ski activities. Lot A (at least for now) at mount snow is free on weekdays and a few hundred feet walk to lift.
