Colonial Gardens B & B

I should've known it was a bad sign when this place had availability while every other place in the area was sold out for Memorial Day weekend. I should've further known when every time I called, the machine said "mailbox is full, unable to accept messages," which is always the sign of a poorly run business. I knew further we were in trouble when we arrived and there were no written instructions anywhere, not about breakfast, towels, issues, emergencies, nothing, unlike the other BBs we've visited. Our worst fears were confirmed when one of the sinks was completely stopped up in the double-sink room we paid for, and owner Angela could not have cared less. She told us "just don't use it," and "just don't worry about it." Then she made sure we couldn't use the sink we paid for by disconnecting the pipe,so it was out of service all weekend. No offer of compensation or anything, not even an apology, for our inconvenience. This place is a dump, with old, worn furniture made to look like period decor. We had mismatched color plastic toilets, broken/glued soap dishes, no ice, and Angela was rarely on premises. One day we got only boiled eggs, yogurt and old watermelon for breakfast left out for us, and she was nowhere to be found. Angela also leaves her cat locked up at night so you can hear the poor thing meowing continuously. The place is not in the main part of town, and not conveniently located. Angela did return a laptop accidentally left behind by a relative, to her credit, but indicated she would have to charge them, no telling how much. She certainly never bothered to try to make us whole for the stopped up sink, etc. I would avoid this place unless you have no other options. Her attitude is not one of good service, but of getting every dollar possible.

Pretty B&B with very friendly, accommodating host. Our room was beautiful. Just what we wanted after a long drive. Felt like home. Close to Colonial Williamsburg, restaurants, and William & Mary. Would definitely recommend this for a trip to Williamsburg.

I booked this place one year in advance for my son's college graduation. I received a message confirming my reservation from Angela the host and my deposit was accepted. Two months before graduation I get a message from Angela that "for some reason my reservation didn't map through to her calendar" and so I needed to cancel the reservation as others had also booked the house. Angela had very little concern over my situation and blithely commented that there were plenty of other places to stay. None of the remaining available places were comparable given the late notice. I would definitely not trust her as a host and recommend you do not book with her. She literally said to me that this has happened multiple times and was a common occurrence, as if this excuses her poor business practices. If it had happened before shouldn't she have remediated the problem. I am still so angry that I actually tried to plan way in advance and her negligence left me in a bind.

We enjoyed our weekend stay at Colonial Gardens. It was a perfect escape with delicious breakfast and wonderful service.

I had never stayed in a bed-and-breakfast before, my wife convinced me that it would be fun. Upon arrival we met the innkeeper, Angela. She was very personable, a fantastic cook very knowledgeable of the area. And an all-around great person. The room was perfect, and could not have been better. We really enjoyed our three nights there. We will gladly go back again

Absolutely perfect!!! I had never stayed in a bed-and-breakfast before, but my wife convinced me it would be fun. Little did I know how great this experience would be. When we arrived, we were greeted by Angela, the innkeeper. What a wonderful woman. A great host, a great cook, and a wealth of information about Williamsburg. This may have been one of our greatest vacations we would gladly go back again. Angela, thank you again for a great time. Andy and Donna.
