Feels like a proper pub and was nice and busy the night we visited. Excellent fish and chips. If, like us, you rock up in Whitby to find all the famous fish and chip places fully booked you won't go far wrong walking up the hill a bit to this place. Just be warned the kitchen closes quite early.

we called in for lunch on the 23rd April 2025 we were delighted - excellent home cooked food - we had cottage pie and vegetables and burger and amazing chips - a large portion - also lovely friendly staff and good atmosphere - recommend and will return

Friendly staff, comfortable and very clean room. Was able to park close by with help of hotel, who provided on street parking permit for smallcharge £4 for 2 nights. Would definetely recommend and will use again

On a recent stay in whitby, the Granby became our local. Very friendly welcome, good beer at Very reasonable prices and from what we observed excellent quality food. Would recommend this establishment to anyone visiting whitby. Accommodation was available and the location is ideal for exploring whitby.

Came across the pub by accident as it was the first one we passed from our guest house, so glad we did. Traditional pub, good prices (slightly more expensive than Spoons but worth it for the atmosphere). Had a light lunch on the Saturday as we were both still full from our guest house brekky. We had a chicken, stuffing and gravy bap with chips to share. OMG the chips are like your nan used to make, proper spuds cooked in lard, amazing. Lovely pint of Guinness at a decent price Wish we hadn't eaten here on the Friday evening instead of the overrated M@gpie

Brilliant place to stay in, parking close by if you want to pay! Although they do give you a parking permit for the zones near by if you can find a space. Really convenient for a walk down to the harbour/beach

Not value for money The pub itself was fantastic and the staff were helpful and the food was great and well priced. The room itself had a strong smell like a damp carpet or drain as we opened the door. We left the window open while we walked around the town but the smell remained...it was even stronger in the wee bathroom which had no ventilation and a notice advising to keep the bathroom door and window open while showering to prevent steam build up. Speaking of which, there were no toiletries in the shower. For the price we paid for the room i dont think it was value for money.
