Hotel in zona Anzac Park, Whangarei

Hotel has invested & upgraded however not in the public areas where carpet looks distinctly tired. The rooms has new carpet, a huge round mirror and bespoke fittings however the bathroom still has the old tiles and 1980s 45° plastic shower which feels very claustrophobic. No liquid soap & soap cakes are supplied. Complimentary tea & instant coffee but a very bare fridge except for UHT milk pods. TV has usual freeview stations including ABC (Aussie), French TV & DW (German) but no Sky channels. Unfortunately the entry door has 1 inch gap underdoor which allows a lot of noise to intrude. Also no smoke seals or auto closer (non complying under current NZ Building Code but probably OK as built before NZ Building Act 1992 came into force). Party walls also allow a lot of inter-room noise (we left the bathroom fan on to provide some background masking). Aircon/heating is provided by a domestic looking & yellowing hi-bay heat pump which didnt try. Breakfast was standard fare with bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, cereals, raw juice etc. Espresso is available on request but extra cost eg. $6 for Latte. Plenty of carparking and convenient walking distance to Town Basin. Concluding, hotel is slowly upgrading but still a lot to do - 3.5 stars

The hosts Jennie and Peter were very approachable and knowledgeable. They went the extra mile to make me feel welcome and looked after. The motel is close to a New World and a Countdown, the Octagon Theatre which offers excellent theatre and dinner deals, one of Whangarei's favourite restaurants Suk Jai Thai restaurant, bus stops, and many cafes. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

This is a great motel. After Easter camping washed out this was my bolt hole. I needed dry and wifi for a couple of days of work. The management are friendly, efficient and considerate. The room was fab- fresh, clean and spacious. With big comfy bed, FULL and well equipped kitchen (speedy convection hob and oven), the bathroom is new with a powerful hot shower. The little detail of a provincial style table [rather than ugly built in desk unit] is cute. Double extra points for clear signed in room recycling, no single use bathroom products and they don’t take the towels when you don’t need them too! There’s a small pool, but it was seasonally closed in mid April :( The negatives… there’s no cafetière and the shower door leaks! Would recommend and would happily return.

Dopo un giorno di colpo a Whangārei, la nostra famiglia di due adulti e un adolescente si sono trascinati nelle Villa Kauri tardi pomeriggio. La prima cosa che noterete è l'incredibile vista sulla costa. Siamo stati saluti dagli ospiti Andrea e Mike, e mostrati al nostro appartamento, che era carino e pulito. Era lunedì, e i nostri ospiti ci hanno informato che la maggior parte dei ristoranti locali sarebbe stata chiusa (anche la stagione). Fortunatamente, il cottage aveva una cucina completamente attrezzata, e il più vicino negozio era due minuti a piedi, il cottage aveva anche un lavastoviglie, un vero gioiello per ogni cuoco viaggiante. Quella sera abbiamo aiutato a fare un tubo caldo/ jacuzzi e giocato a qualche biliardo nella loro ”camera di gioco”, che è davvero più di un bespoke bespoke con un sistema audio, bella illuminazione, e tutto da ping pong a videogiochi. Abbiamo avuto una notte perfetta di gioco familiare senza lasciare la proprietà, abbiamo iniziato la nostra prima mattina con un grande colazione cucinato da Mike, e poi abbiamo usato le villa come base di casa per colpire alcuni dei grandi passi locali. La seconda e l’ultima mattina, abbiamo parlato a Mike della nostra adorazione per le pecore che potevamo vedere dalla finestra della camera da letto, e Mike ha offerto di farci nutrire a mano! Come amanti degli animali, come un trattamento per nutrire a mano alcune adorabili pecore che ci hanno messo insieme a noi per curarle. Come viaggiatori degli Stati Uniti, il ritorno alle Villa Kauri non è probabilmente nelle carte in un momento presto, ma consiglierei molto questo posto per una vacanza veloce, o evento speciale come un matrimonio dove si desidera un luogo fantastico per celebrare. Grande spazio, grandi ospiti.

Se vivete negli Stati Uniti o siete rimasti in un Quality Inn negli Stati Uniti, sate consapevoli che sono lontani dalla qualità. Questo hotel ha superato le aspettative. Ho trascorso il giorno immergendo i poveri cavalieri. Il negozio di immersione mi aveva raccomandato di rimanere qui, essere conveniente è un sottoscritto. Ho prenotato attraverso booking.com, I’m not sure if other methods offer a cheaper rate - I have noted with other accommodations that booking.com adds a charge that may not exist if booking directly. Easy to find, good signage and had open spaces in the parking lot upon arrival. Il personale del front desk entra e usciva erano meravigliosi. Molto personale e amichevole. La mia stanza era perfetta. Incredibilemente spaziosa. Bella vista della marina. Il sole e il risveglio erano pittoreschi. Mi ha fatto un po' di paura quando ho aperto la porta e mi ha confermato di aver fatto la scelta giusta per il mio soggiorno. Il bagno è anche spazioso, una buona pressione di doccia e acqua calda. Il letto era comodo e mi sono addormentato come una roccia. Brecky inizia a piedi alle 7:00. Non è inclusa nel tasso di notte, ma era deliziosa. Ho dovuto essere al negozio di immersione alle 8:00, sono arrivato in fondo alle 720 e ho ancora avuto tempo di mangiare le avanze, pasticceria e bere un caffè. Rimanerei e consiglierei il vostro soggiorno.

Stayed at the Pacific Rendezvous for two nights in February – specifically due to the ratings and vicinity of Dive Tutukaka. Ian helped me at check-in and was extremely friendly and helpful! He provided a local map and details on the area, hikes, restaurants, etc. There is a small store connected to the reception desk where you can purchase snacks, beverages, etc. You can also rent a beach towel if needed. The place is very cozy and clean. I stayed in a studio, which had ocean views from the back patio on the main level and the bedroom upstairs. It’s similar to a duplex and unit is individually owned and managed by Ian and Susan. The units are self-accommodating. The unit does have wifi although it continuously cut in and out for me. The unit I stayed in had AC on the main level but not upstairs, which was exceptionally hot. Location-wise – it’s pretty secluded and VERY relaxing and quiet. In that aspect, I’d give it 5 stars. On the other end of the spectrum, it is not walkable if you want to be within walking distance of a shops/stores, etc. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe. There are a few ocean hikes/areas that are private to Pacific Rendezvous – Harbour Beach and Ocean Beach. I already planned to hike Whale Bay and Matapouri Bay, which were a short drive away otherwise I would have explored these two beaches. There is an onsite pool, playground area, tennis court, game room, laundry room, etc. The only reason I gave it 4 stars (would have given it 4.5 if that was an option) was the AC. There was a fan in the closet, but it was rusty/dusty so did not use it. That said, I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely stay again. The views and ocean sounds are the absolute best if you are looking for some quiet and relaxation.
