Russell Hotel

The only thing keeping this hotel afloat is the restaurant staff ! The room was like staying in your granny’s room that has not been used for a few years, poor bathroom facilities and not very clean. Everything is done on the cheap, just a step up from a “ boarding house “ Daish’s seem to choose a really good location and that is all their hotels have going for them, always under staffed and cheap food. I will definitely not be using any of their hotels again. Don’t stay here if you have mobility problems, everywhere has stairs but only one lift.

The coach trip was so relaxing, our first such holiday and such a pleasure not to have to do the driving. A very warm welcome was given to us on arrival. Hotel room though dated was spotless and had all we needed. Clean comfy bed, hot shower, fluffy towels, tea and coffee making facilities, amazing seaview. Foodwise, the meals were delicious with plenty of choices, portions more than adequate and service in the restaurant outstanding. Evening entertainment was varied and something for every music taste was on offer and the bar prices were reasonable. We will definitely be coming back. Recently retired this is the way forward for us holidaywise.

Not sure how anyone can complain about their holiday in Weymouth The staff work tirelessly to meet all the guest needs and certainly go the extra mile. We are used to paying over £120 a night at the coast for room only, it's peak season now and the price we paid was amazing. Yes the hotel is dated and needs upgrading ,, but iyou're not. Paying for a 4 star hotelr. Great location and good food. Weymouth is beautiful town with so much to do.

It was with trepidation having read previous reviews so to be honest with you in our experience we had a wonderful time at the Russell. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean and well appointed. There was an excellent choice of food cooked to a high standard, All the staff we're extremely hard working very helpful and friendly, a special mention to our waitress Diana who was exceptional and an asset to the hotel. On a further note the location on the seafront was brilliant, the bus stop is right outside the hotel if you want to go further afield. In All we had a wonderful time and would definitely return.

This hotel is situated on Weymouth Beach Front We stayed at the Russell and would not go Back there the room was Very shabby wall paper hanging off the wall bathroom Very small and shabby and the Food was served cold . We had Ants & little Flys in the Bedroom but the Entertainment was Very Good.

Comfy bed, huge airy bathroom. We were at the back of the hotel (which currently has scaffolding up). Our room was hot (and sunny) however, a fan was provided. Food was nice. Toast very thin, which was a talking point. Mum loved it! Dining room/Reception staff very efficient.

Old quaint hotel, clean rooms tea coffee in rooms cleaned and drinks topped up daily lovely staff good entertainment every night bingo quizzes singers nice food,bus stop outside door use if sister hotel next door on the beach close to everything

My partner and myself always looked forward all year to coming to Weymouth and staying here ,my previous reviews always praised this hotel to the max ,but not this time !!! We were given a room 128 which was terrible ,it was cramped ,no storage ,dirty and the only window opened onto a dirty pigeon infested courtyard with an expel air that sounded like an aircraft taking off .the room was not fit for purpose. Manager Savio wasn't at all helpful and extremely patronising when I asked him if he would stay in a room like that he replied " that when he went on holiday he didn't stay in hotels" .Mae the female manager was helpful tho so have to give her a thumbs up Security was a joke ,Manager outside smoking when tried to get key ,could of taken any key to any room . Food was average and restaurant and bar staff ok. I just wish the people in charge would read the reviews and admit there is a problem with this hotel ,and realise not everyone can book a sea view room( not available when booking ) ,and have to stay in rotten sub standard room ,we understand Daishs format and dot expect silk sheets and four poster beds but what a shame it's gone so far down hill

I would give the downstairs area 3 out of 5, the lounges, bar area and entertainment area were fine. The dining room was also decent and the food ok. The staff are excellent, hard working and helpful. The hotel is old and tired but in a great location on the sea front. But the problem is the upstairs. Our room was on the top (3rd) floor and I would only give it 1 out of 5. There was a large double bed which creaked every time you turned over and it almost filled the room. There was a sea view but either side of the window the roof sloped where warning stickers were telling you to mind your head. Any tall person sleeping on that side of the bed would have trouble especially getting up in the dark very dangerous. My wife is small but still managed to hit her head when putting things on the bedside cabinet. There was no dressing table so my wife sat on my side of the bed looking into the mirror on the wall to dry her hair, the problem was the power points were under the bedside cabinet just above the skirting board and she couldn't get down to plug them in, I had to literally lie flat to do it. The bathroom was narrow with a glass shelf just above the sink. I managed to bang my head on it bending down when washing or cleaning my teeth and bang it again when coming up, also dangerous. The shower cubicle is square and compact we managed but any larger or infirm person would struggle. In our honest opinion this room should not be used for paying guests especially for older people it is to dangerous and to small. It reminds me of a room that would have been used for a live in servant when the hotel was first built. I would recommend that when booking this hotel you certainly don't want room 331.
