Super 8 by Wyndham West Yellowstone

We were very happy with the staff at Mountain Vista. Our daughter made reservations for us and for her family only to have a big mixup at check in. Only one room was booked and unfortunately the motel was full. However Micki called Fred the manager and they were kind enough to get us a cabin at the KOA down the road. All worked out and both the motel and the campground were very nice. We would recommend either place for your next visit to West Yellowstone!

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights during our trip to Yellowstone. The hotel is about 10 minutes outside town, an easy drive especially when compared to the daily drives through the park. Room was clean and included a fridge and microwave so we could prepare breakfast and pack lunches for our days in Yellowstone. Breakfast was fairly modest, with cereal and waffles, but nice to have as an option. We booked when this property was a Super 8, and because we booked 3rd party, our payment was misdirected in the acquisition. The front desk was helpful and all was worked out within about 20 minutes. I would stay here again.

The arrival experience was unbelievably bad and disorganized. Apparently this hotel is or has changed ownership, and it is not clear whether or not it is indeed a super 8 ( as the sign says) or a KOA (employees wore KOA uniforms) or something else. I booked through Agoda 6 months ago, they charged my card $225 today, and then front desk demanded I pay AGAIN. And they acted like this happens all the time, but I’ve never experienced this. What a mess and a nasty surprise after a long day of hiking. Room itself decent. No elevators here. Quiet, way outside of town.

I booked this hotel several months ago thru the Wyndham app, when I got to the hotel I was told that the hotel was a no longer a Wyndham hotel, and that it was owned by the KOA campgrounds that was behind the hotel. That is fine, but I was never told about that through Wyndham, so that’s Wyndham‘s fault. They did honor the amount that I was supposed to pay through Wyndham so that was good. when we checked in and we went in the room, the room had sliding windows one window, opened up several inches and would not lock. There was a little skinny dowel type piece of wood in the window track to try and keep the window from opening and also staying closed, But the piece of wood was about 2 inches short so the window would not stay closed. We went to the front desk and asked, Jackie and her husband if they could help us and they said they couldn’t do anything about it and that all the windows were like that! Not very safe!! My husband took care of it and got some rocks and put it in the window tracks to keep the window from opening. We went to the camp store next-door and met Megan. Megan also works at the front desk in the hotel, which is now called Mountain Vista. Meghan was extremely helpful and very friendly and accommodating. She was surprised that the other employees did not try to help us out with the window. This hotel could use more employees like Meghan it would make things much better in the hotel. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean. There was a back door to the hotel, which was closest to our room, but the back door was never locked and anybody could come and go through that door. You did not need a key to get in the door. So, Mountain Vista needs to do a few safety updates and the hotel will be good.

Nice clean room, a little ways outside of the town of West Yellowstone. Room was a little pricey for being that far out of town. Breakfast was minimal. They hadn't received my reservation from Tripadvisor but got us a room & a better rate.
