Hotel with pros and cons I booked Laprima hotel because of its good views with closer proximity to town than other luxury hotels, with a decent price tag. I think we got that! PROS - good sunset views from your little balcony, with plenty of space to hang wet swim gear from your days adventures - Lush grounds with frangipani, birds of paradise, other other pretty plants - Great pool and there is also a BBQ area and spa on site - Decent coffee - Comfy bed - Clean towels each day and a shower that does not get the whole bathroom wet - Box breakfast provided for early departures (ours was good)! CONS - The food is just okay- some variety, fresh fruit every day, nice layout of dining space, but not great cooking. Also, don’t expect Western choices (not that we did) - Low quality toiletries so don’t forget your own, especially conditioner and even bar soap - the worst problem was that we were not picked up at the appointed time at the airport and the man at the front desk lied about someone coming for us! We had pre arranged our pick-up through Trip.com beforehand, but when we walked out the door of the airport… no one was there with our names OR the name of the hotel on a paper. No biggie, we call the number of the hotel and the man says that someone will be there in five minutes. We wait ten before calling again and the man assures us that someone is in the parking lot so we just have to find him. Meanwhile of course there is a huge crowd of taxi drivers begging to take us, but we don’t want to stand up our driver so we lug our suitcases and backpacks down the steps and search the parking lot for any van or bus with our hotel name on it. No sign. So we call AGAIN and ask what’s going on and the man says (no joke), “Sorry, we had a VIP arrive and couldn’t help you right away.” So we got the message loud and clear that we were not important. Finally, we get some taxi driver to take us to the hotel. It’s been 40 sweaty minutes and since the hotel is only ten minutes away by car, we could have been there and back again a few times at this point. We pull into the driveway and there is the hotel van, parked in the shade. Needless to say, we were pretty mad but we’re trying not to lose our cool. The man at the desk really did not know what to do. He didn’t offer to upgrade us until we suggested it and he seemed unsure how to handle the situation at all. It seems looking back that it was just a problem of miscommunication and very inadequate training. Perhaps the front desk is not his usual role and he was just there for low season. But beware. It made me have trust issues with anything else the hotel provided. Would we get our laundry back? Would they really have our breakfast boxes ready on time for our early pick- up? That one was almost a no as well. To be fair, the same man did help us print a document several days later. I don’t want to vilify him. But he really messed up the first impression!

Felt like a hotel from the 1980s. Room was very nice as was the pool but a totally bizarre set of priorities with no eco / sustainable qualities. No place to refill water but instead if you ask for water they send someone one to your room with small plastic bottles. They replenish these plastic bottles each day. They give you new tiny plastic bottles of shampoo each day and wash the towels every day regardless of requests. Totally unnecessary use of energy and plastic. Breakfast is poor. Great number of staff there but seem focused on putting out stacks of plates ans cups correctly and often no milk available. No hot water so if you want tea you just have a pot which brews constantly and they just periodically add water too. In a country full of beautiful fresh fruit their breakfast fruit is not fresh and often covered in flies. There is so many staff they could just bring each person a little plate of fruit if they liked. Lots of options in the hot plate buffet but all seem straight from a frozen / package and not fresh at all.

Hotel fantastico. Piscina e ristorante con vista sullo spettacolare tramonto. Il personale splendido. TUTTE PERSONE ECCEZIONALI. Gentilezza, disponibilità, sorrisi; una situazione incredibile. Spero un giorno di poter tornare. Grazie di ❤️

It's such a good place. The staff are absolutely brilliant. They really are cool. Whenever I needed help, advice, or assistance with my room they were so polite and caring to help me. This is the kind of stuff that really makes a holiday extra pleasant. The room itself is very good. The furnishings and facilities are wonderful. It's like a small apartment. You really could stay there long term. The cleaning service is delivered every single day and the room feels brand new every time. It's located a matter of seconds off the main *****, which is perfect as it saves you from street noise. There's even a nice view of the ocean. It's great. Thank you EVERYONE, at Komodo Suites. I hope to return very soon.

Non so come abbiano il coraggio di chiamarlo Resort. Arriviamo alla reception e siamo accolti da receptionists che parlano un inglese preimpostato su una conversazione standard e che appena chiedi qualcosa di diverso fanno finta di capirti ma non ti capiscono. Veniamo anche assaliti da un tipo (dentro all’hotel) che sorridendo ci propone un tour per Komodo al quadruplo del prezzo che si trova in città, e quando diciamo di no ci rivolge un’occhiata come fossimo pezzenti. Ci danno una stanza con le lenzuola che chiaramente non erano state cambiate dai clienti precedenti, erano infatti macchiate e stropicciate, come un letto in cui qualcuno aveva gia dormito. Il condizionatore non funzionava. Ci cambiano stanza, e le lenzuola erano di nuovo sporche. Al limite dell’esasperazione (quando arrivi da un viaggio vuoi solo rilassarti, non hai voglia di contrattempi) chiedo nuovamente il cambio della stanza. Le lenzuola finalmente sono pulite, ma il condizionatore va comunque lentissimo. Le pareti hanno macchie. Il bagno è da albergo a 2 stelle. La camera nel complesso è squallida. Il wifi nella stanza funziona molto male, a tratti non funziona proprio. Facciamo una passeggiata sulla spiaggia: la location è bella, ma non è curata. La piscina è calda e sporca, la spiaggia è PIENA di bottiglie di plastica. Ce ne è letteralmente una ogni metro, è vergognoso. Non c’è nessuno che pulisca. A Labuan Bajo in generale i locali trattano i turisti come se fossero mucche da mungere, se potessero aprirebbero loro una vena e gli succhierebbero il sangue, e questo atteggiamento è presente anche con il personale dell’hotel, che ti tratta decentemente solo finché tiri fuori i soldi, ed appena commenti il prezzo alto dei tour proposti da loro, o ti rifiuti di prendere il taxi per andare in cittá ma opti per Grab, vieni osservato come fossi un poraccio. Parlando di taxi: all’arrivo chiediamo come arrivare al porto, ci rispondono che dalla reception possono chiamare lo shuttle. Arriva dopo 25 minuti un taxi che prendeva solo contanti, chiediamo se possiamo pagare con carta alla reception e poi se la vedono loro (come abbiamo gia fatto in altri posti) mi rispondono di no. Ero capace anche io di chiamare un taxi esterno, pensavo peró si trattasse di un loro servizio, come loro ci avevano fatto intendere. Penosi e disorganizzati. La colazione è passabile ma non si puo definire da resort. Ci sono stata nei resort, fidatevi questo non è un resort. L’attenzione al cliente ed i servizi sono migliori in un ostello (sono stata anche negli ostelli, fidatevi è così). Pro: bella location Contro: nessuno parla un inglese decente, attenzione al cliente SOTTO ZERO, perdite di tempo continue dovute a vari disservizi (camera sporca, condizionatore non funzionante), wifi pessimo, colazione niente di che, spiaggia sporchissima, camera squallida.

Tornerò a causa di: - pulizia - comoda camera - sorprendente letto - personale amichevole - posizione Il colazione è medio, un po' timido per il mio gusto. Molto probabilmente perché hanno bisogno di regolare il gusto per gli stranieri. Ho soggiornato da solo in una camera da letto doppia. Per me, il mio tempo di sonno era eccellente. Hanno una piscina al tetto. Amo il personale locale amichevole.Dopo aver trascorso una notte su una barca, il sonno qui era prezioso.

Andare a cena, fare foto fuori è abbastanza, non consiglio davvero di restare. L'hotel è nuovissimo, è strano perché c'è un odore, la hall, le camere, i servizi igienici sono ancora più disgustosi.

What a wonderful find. This is a small hotel with nine lodges on the side of a hill with the most spectacular views of the ocean. The restaurant is slightly higher up and is a fabulous place to eat with views across land and sea. The rooms were spacious, clean and charming with balcony views over the hotel pool and the ocean. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. The receptionist organised scooters for us for three days. The hotel is away from town so scooters or taxi rides are essential to get about. He also organised a small boat to take us to Rangko Cave. The boat was about a twenty minute ride away. We also rode to visit a couple of waterfalls where we swam. We were at the Theodor from Monday evening to Friday morning, when we left for a three day boat trip. That was long enough to see what was around locally. There is a small pool at the hotel which, again, has spectacular views. I would suggest that this hotel wouldn’t be ideal for those who are unsteady on their feet or need wheelchair access. I highly recommend this hotel, it was idyllic.

I stayed for one night at the Komodo Lodge after my live aboard boat trip. The room is affordable, basic and clean and comes with a very simple breakfast. As I was on the ground floor, I had a verandah with outdoor seating and a clothes drying rack (I believe it is the same for the upstairs units with the balconies). Nothing to complain about. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The mosque in town might be too loud for some if one is not used to it and some guests may be a bit loud as well with their conversations as they walk by. But other than that, everything else was pretty much ok. Location wise, Komodo Lodge (at Jalan Mutiara) is well placed as it sits in between the street with the seafood stalls that open at night (Jalan Kerapu) and the main drag with the tour companies/agents and good eats (Jalan Soekarno Hatta) so all are within walking distance.

La proprietà è ben decorata e il balcone privato offre una vista fantastica e un posto per guardare il sole. Come il nome indica la proprietà si trova su un lato di montagna, il che significa che ci sono molti passi. Tuttavia, vale la pena per la vista! Ciò significa anche che le strutture come l'acqua sono difficili da fornire e abbiamo dovuto aspettare che fossero pompate più acqua - non un problema che va notato. In generale la proprietà ha un bel fascino rustico, ma consiglierei di bere acqua o vino/bevande per godere sul balcone (è un frigo) perché il ristorante non ha altro che birra e è un po' lontano dal negozio. Il personale era molto gentile e utile con tutte le mie domande. Rimanerei ancora 😀
