American Inn Ozark

I do not understand the high ratings. I have pictures of my room, and I feel they tell the story. It is dated and musty. The room smelled like smoke. The manager refused to agree that the room smelled like smoke, but I think the fact that there was no smoke detector in my room (I have the pictures from where it used to hang) prove this. The chain had been removed from my door and there were no additional locks. It lacked hotel basics like an iron. The towels were thin and worn. The bar of bath soap was so thin it was virtually see-through. The bed frame felt broken and it wobbled. The room was pepto-bismal pink. The sheets and comforter were old and itchy, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The breakfast is minimal. The "fitness center" is a treadmill in the middle of the lobby. The guests included a man spray painting his truck in the middle of the parking lot and a woman sitting outside the pool area drinking beer and smoking for long periods of time. The rates on the website vary from the rates on the side of the building which vary from what I was actually charged. The manager swears they are all the same. I also have the screenshots and pictures showing the difference. Worth it to stay in Springfield or Branson and make the little journey.
